Hi there!
I'm new here and very much a Japanese beginner.

I am on chapter 15 of the Minna No Nihongo listening comprehension exercise book for its "Elementary Japanese I" level .

Mr. Miller says he wants to take a picture of the beautiful garden, and he uses the "tai" form of the verb "to take a picture": 写真を撮りたいな. The Minna textbook says that the tai form of a verb is like an i-adjective, so I don't understand why the sentence isn't "撮りたいです". What does the な signify?

This is probably very simple but I don't think Minna has explained this usage yet. Thanks to anyone who wants to help me!
Andrew

The な here is just like a wistful expression of desire. He's speaking casually so he doesn't use です.
