僕が習いたいことをおしえてもらうよう、先生たちに願うはずじゃない

Hello there guys

Once again I have a question that is making me feel quite anxious, but today its about something I said in a casual conversation.

So my question is, how much sense is this: "僕がチビみたいに間違えたことを直してもらうよう、先生たちに願うはずじゃない"

I'm asking because I didnt think much before saying, it came out as a fast response to someone who suggested me to ask my teacher about my recent "streak" of mistakes regarding fairly simple kanji. And I really feel I'm still sloppy both in talking and in listening, regardless of doing the n2 By december.

If I break it down in pieces:

1 - I wanted to sound like "I shouldnt be requesting the teachers to .... " or "I'm not supposed to", so I got it out in this "はず" shape

2 - 直してもらうよう is sort of problematic to me, I dont know why, I just feel like 直してもらおうと is better? but I'm not sure, maybe this is direct result of 中途半端 learning of these subjects? I could swear I've had dominated them (to a certain extent) but when you have to express yourself things get blurry and the line between what you know, what you think you know and what you're afraid of misusing disappears

べき is the one you should use, not はず. Also, the tense is another key.

2)
直してもらうよう is acceptable, but 直してもらおうと is better. Both sound a bit stiff, though.

Thanks Tori, If I was to make it sound less rough, how would you rephrase 直してもらうよう?

Btw, can you point me the tense problem of 願う in here?

はず is should for "expectation" = "he should be back by now". べき is should for "ought to" (moral requirement) = "he should call if he's going to be late".

I would use 直してもらいたい/ほしいとお願いする.
I was talking about じゃない, but sorry, my bad. I misunderstood your sentence. じゃない is correct.

Haha you scared me, I was searching for fixes to 願う, thought it was supposed to be in 連用形 or something.
