「……捕らえた者には賞金一〇〇万ドルだそうよ」
「ひゃあ、真那もとうとう賞金首でいやがりますか。————で、捕まえてみます？」
真那が言う通と、燎子はフンと鼻を鳴らした。
「あいにく、私はできるだけ部下と装備の損害を少なくすることも仕事なもんでね」

I'm not sure about the function of the bold part. Is the もんでね the continuative form of もんだね (which has the nuance of "that's the way it is" or 当然)?
Or does this もんでね mean "because", like ものだから/ものですから?

It's the latter "because."

ものでの解説
［接助］《形式名詞「もの」＋格助詞「で」から》活用語の連体形に付く。原因・理由を表す。…ものだから。…ので。「時間がないもので、失礼する」「途中、事故があったもので、遅れてしまった」
[補説]「で」は断定の助動詞「だ」の連用形とも。くだけた話し言葉の中では「もんで」ともなる。
