てもらいたい・てほしい

親には長生きしてもらいたい。

It roughly translated as: My parents want to live a long life. (I think)

What is the purpose of the particle には here? Why not は? Or is it a rule?

Anyone mind helping me? Toritoribe? Thanks in advance!

I think it's: (I) want my parents to live a long life. に with ~てもらう marks the person doing the action.
親に長生きしてもらいたい would be possible.

Isn't it the purpose of ～てもらう, not ～たい? Your confusion seems to come from your initial interpretation that 親 was the subject of 長生きしたい. In this case, your question is reasonable why には is used there instead of は that indicates the subject.
