Hi undrentide, thanks, I'm looking to understand how this expression is formed, and what verb form is being used.
Am I right, then, that it is 飲まず に + は + いられない (as opposed to 飲まず に + はいられない, for example)?
And could you possibly explain the verb form of いられない? Is it the negative potential of the "be" verb, いる, for instance?
