Furigana - Wikipedia

Basically furigana are small kana that are placed either on top of kanji (when writing horizontally) or beside kanji (when writing vertically) as a reading aid to show the pronunciation.
 
I think that to ask is the most basically important things to learn too. And I think that to teach is to learn.
