Hi,
1. 何やら分厚い、重い、黄色みがかった羊皮紙の封筒に入 っている。
a) What かった is this?
b) I cannot work out what the subject of 入っている is. The immediately preceding text has mentioned the address on the envelope. Nothing about the contents has yet been mentioned. Could に入っている be said of an address??
2. 「小僧、早くせんか!」
What is this せんか?
3. 「何をやっとるんだ。手紙爆弾の検査でもしとるのか? 」
a) Is やっとる = やっておる = old man's やっている?
b) Is しとる = しておる = old man's している?
c) Since the first sentence is presumably a question, why does it end with んだ? I thought this was explanatory, not questioning.
4. 「ぼくが見るんだ!」
Apparently this is supposed to mean "Let me see it!". Where does the "let me" sense come from?
