Although I get the general idea, I'm not sure exactly which words と言ってくれた governs (in other words, what the lady said versus what is the narrator's commentary), and I'm not sure of the exact function of から and ように. Does ように refer to the manner in which the narrator is told to go on his way? Does から mean "after" here?
