well, calligraphy is done by hand. There are certified calligraphers; I would recommend having someone who knows what they're doing write the characters for you (even better, a tattooist who understands how to properly write in Japanese). First step is deciding whether you want hiragana, katakana, or kanji, and if you pick kanji, which characters you want to go with.
I have to reiterate my doubts about this idea, but if I can't dissuade you, I at least hope you don't end up with a tattoo you'll regret.
