Reading the posts about what one "knows from one's experience", I feel that we tend to see what we want to see and hear what we want to hear.
Not that everyone is so, but there's tendency we are blind/deaf to what we don't want, or what we take for granted.
Also when we think that we see/hear something very often (thus assume it is something very common or exists in abundance), it could be simply because we are interested in that particular thing, it catches our eyes/ears more quickly and frequently.
It's important to consider if we really see/hear something as it is when we want to discuss on something "from our own experience".
