I recently discovered the forum and was most intrigued by commentary on Imperial era flags.
I have a particular interest in sake cups but have acquired a few inscribed flags over the years.
I would be most grateful if forum members could share their thoughts on the pictured item.
A former Japanese colleague who looked at the flag indicated he could not read all of the Kanji but thought the recipient was "MIKI EIZO" and that the inscriptions on the upper left side made mention of US WWII B17 and B24 aircraft. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

My thoughts? Collecting personalized items most likely either stolen from prisoners or stolen from the belongings of dead soldiers is ghoulish and repugnant. Those are my thoughts on yosegaki flags.

Actually, the recipient is 三木英三郎 Miki Eizaburō, not Eizō.
What is written on the upper left is ボーイングB一七も二四も君が手腕でたゝきおとせよ Strike both B17 and B24 down with your skill .

Thank you Toritoribe for your reply. In your opinion do the inscriptions appear to be in the same hand?
This particular flag was sourced from a market in Yokohama 15 odd years ago so is more than likely not a battlefield pick up. I am inclined to agree with Mike's observations and should this item be genuine it should probably be returned to surviving relatives if they could be located.

I can't judge if it's genuine or not, but the flag seems too new to me.
Some of the signatures were written by the same hand, for instance three signatures of Komatsu, but it's possible that the one who was good at writing did it for family members.

Thank you Toritoribe. Appreciate you taking the time to offer an opinion.
