Hi all,

In the embassy recommendation, it requires "Recommendation from the president/dean or the adviser of the last university attended".

The recommendation from dean is too difficult (also I am not in the school already), so I can only ask for my advisor recommendation, but the problem is I do not have advisor in my "LAST" university, my master degree just by coursework. I only had advisor in my previous university and had a paper published with him.

Is it possible to use the recommendation of the advisor not from the last university?

Does anyone have the similar problem?

Thanks.

Hi! I am a 3rd time applicant for this scholarship, so maybe I can help you.
The best thing to do here is to contact your embassy and get your doubts cleared from them.
In the mean time you can get two letters of recommendation, one from the advisor whith whom you have published a paper and another from a Professor who taught you in your masters course.

Hope this helps, Good luck!

Thanks for your help! So what you mean is the embassy decides everything? What I am afraid is that if the embassy said ok, but fail in the secondary screening by MEXT because of this problem.
But anyway, I will try to contact with my country embassy first. Thanks!

Usually the Embassy knows exactly MEXT wants so its always best to contact them :)
Glad to help!:)

Hello there,
You may want to talk to the Dean of the University you last attented to. Even if he/she doesn't know you personally, if you tell your Dean your plan of pursuing higher education abroad then your Dean would certainly more than willing to help you. There are cases wherein the Dean would ask you to make recommendation letter for yourself (if your Dean really doesn't know you personally), and he/she will just edit it for you. I don't know if in your case this would work. But the best thing to do is talk to your adviser/professor who have known your skills/potentials to help you reach out to your Dean :)
