Can someone please suggest me websites where I can learn the correct stroke order to write Japanese letters, especially the Kanji?

Thanks

I find it much easier to look that up on phone apps since I can draw them out with my finger.

You're talking about looking up kanji? That doesn't necessarily help you learn the correct stroke order since such apps are pretty forgiving about how you write the kanji.

Whichever app or website you end up using for your purposes, i still recommend to follow along with the website Toritoribe provided the link for for reference. The reason being you may end up memorizing obsolete stroke order, or even worse Chinese version of a kanji. Some websites and apps seem to use fonts with obsolete forms of kanjis. Take a look at this kanji for example 「溢」の書き方 - 漢字の正しい書き順(筆順) It may be displayed as the one on the right in your app, while correct modern Japanese kanji is the one on the left.

Quite tricky difference. Had you not mentioned that they correspond to the same character, I might have identified them as being two different letters.

You tap on the kanji and an animation is displayed with the stroke order.

Hi hiverloon,

You can try jisho.org. Just search for a word/Kanji, and it will display the pronunciation/s together with the stroke order.

I know jisho.org and in fact have been using this since I started learning Japanese. However, I mainly use it to find the meaning of a particular kanji letter. I can't find the button to display the stroke order, though.

Click on 'details' under each kanji. Then you will see the animation with the 'play' button
