Hey guys, been a while.
I'm having trouble understanding what this sentence means in this context and I was hoping someone could help shed some light on it.

Fairly straight forward, however the part that I'm a bit confused about is "会社に電話したら、田中さんがすでに出てきていた。". Judging from the overall context, it seems that 田中さん is back at the office and he picks up the call, but why use "すでに"? It seems pretty strange to me, because if it was about quickness of response I would have thought this unnatural, which leads me to believe I'm not understanding this sentence properly.
Am I right in understanding 出てくる is being used here as "appearing" as in picking up the phone?

I would be grateful if someone would help me out.

It just means he didn't expect him to already be there. It must have been at a time of the morning before the guy usually shows up for work.

It must be in the morning, as Mike-san pointed out.

Is 多くて a typo?

Yeah, it must be a typo of

Yeah that was my mistake, it's written as 多く not 多くて.

Thank you so much for your help guys.
