Hi,

1.

Does やつ refer to Hermione?

What does ままに mean here? I know that まま usually has a sense of something being left in the same state, but I don't understand what it relates to in this sentence.

3.

I can gather what 「それっきゃねえか」 must mean, but how is constructed? Assuming it's a contraction, what is it contracted from?

a) What is でちょ? Baby-talk for でしょ?

b) What is くだちゃ~い?

1. I think it doesn't refer to Hermione, rather to someone that has something to do with a library (room), not necessarily librarian or employee there. Maybe just someone she met or knows from there. I don't know the context, but since Hermione is trying to rush them, I'm guessing that Ron is asking something like "Don't tell me it's (about) that library person/guy again?"

2. ままに is kind of adverbial here, it describes how ついていった was done (by ネビル). Unless I'm reading it wrong, 「促されるままについていった」 would mean - lit. ネビル accompanied/followed ムーディwhile being urged to do it (by his hand on the shoulder). まま just showing lack of change as usual.

3. I think it's a contraction of それしかねい

4. Yeah, it does sound like baby talk to me (幼児語). I can't imagine a) and b) meaning anything different than what you suggested.

Note: I'm not an expert or native so take these answers with a grain of salt. Wait for the higher-ups to confirm. :)

1. やつ here referrs to something, not a person.

2. Your basic interpretation is correct, here it means "just as " being urged, i.e. without protesting or anything.
