Are they playing a game that is similar to dodgeball? 中当て is a variation of it, which is played between the outside team vs. the inside team in the unseparated field.

It seems like 道[michi] "road" to me. The red one is 落款[rakkan], i.e., the artist's seal. I can't decipher the name.

Do you think it could mean something else? As I looked up road and michi online and the characters do not look the same. Also is the picture facing the correct direction?

Uh, do you know the difference among the styles of writing?
Regular script - Wikipedia

Right: semi-cursive style
upper left: regular/block style
lower left: cursive style

I don't really need the kanji translated, but it's so small that I can't make out what the kanji characters are.
I tried looking them up in my dictionary, but I can't see the radicals properly, so I'm afraid that I'm not finding the right ones.
Is the first half 物騒な事? I haven't been able to figure out what the fourth kanji might be....

It would be a simplicized kanji of 聞, but 物騒な事聞こえたぞ doesn't make much sense...
逡･蟄・- Wikipedia…は「門」の略字として主にメモなどの個人的な筆記に広く使われているが、これは「門」の草書体が元になっており古くから使われている。

Various ways of looking up readings. Wikipedia is often my first stop, and 草思社 has a Wikipedia article: 闕画晉､ｾ - Wikipedia
For 野火迅, look closer at the cover of the book you link to (it's in romaji).
A preview of one of the books by 幸運社 has a biography bit which gives the reading as こううんしゃ
(]和書 > 検索結果: 紀伊國屋書店BookWeb、本、洋書、洋古書、海外マガジン、電子書籍、ＰＣソフトダウンロード go here, hit the google preview on the second listing, scroll towards the end). It uses the phrase '制作集団' so I think this isn't a person but a group working together under the name '幸運社'.
