I'm trying to translate in Japanese these following sentences.

It's not "samayoutteta" but "samayotteta" or the contraction/colloquial form of "samayotteita."
samayotte; -te form of the verb "samayou"
ita; past form of the verb "iru"

Don't think this is exactly the right place for this but oh well here it goes. I'm answering an email to my teacher who said to me how rough it must be with the horribly cold weather we've been having lately in London, so I'm thinking to reply with this:

私の所には歩道の大部分が氷になってしまったので、ゆっくり歩かなければなりませんね。

2 questions for this, 1: does this sentence seem unnatural and 2: should I be using から instead of ので?

I understand the first two lines to mean: There're no methods/means in an age where "Is there any help" echoes everywhere." But I'm confused as to what "methods/means" the person is talking about? I'm also confused as to what 胸掻きむしって means in this context... to scratch one's chest?

This may be too exact an interpretation, but "Icy sidewalks" or "covered with ice" has a more natural cadence perhaps than "sidewalks that became ice" ?

氷が凍った(張った)歩道で 滑って転ばないように 注意深く歩かねばなりません ...
氷にしっかり覆われている歩道で 滑って転ばないように 注意深く歩かねばなりません ...
It is also very boring!

This one should do:

私の所では歩道の大部分が凍ってしまったので、（気をつけて）ゆっくり歩かなければな りません（ね）。
気をつけて was added for further clarification.
ね I think is not necessary here, unless it is a response agreeing with a statement made by the speaker.

This 術もなく is really なす術もなく(なす here means 行う).
What it is saying is that in an age where everyone is looking for salvation, there is no way for us to change/fix/better the situation.

胸(を)掻きむしる is an expression that is used to describe a state of mind where something is affecting you very strongly in a negative way and you feel like tearing at your own heart .

Example : 多くの罪のない動物達が虐待されていると聞いて、胸を掻きむしられる思いがしました。

When I heard that many animals were being abused, it broke my heart / wrung my heart.

それでいいですか is better for checking if you are on track. "Is it fine/OK/all right like this ?" etc.

I don't think so. これはいいでしょうか。(That might be good ?) sounds more pointed to me. But you can fool with the politeness level, as in それでもよろしいですか/でしょうか？Would that be acceptable to you ? etc

In terms of context I'm guessing it would be understood that the person is studying "now" as in an action in progress rather than the routine meaning correct me if I'm wrong.

The reason I wasn't sure about から／ので is because ので has more rules because it's supposedly more subjective so I'm always on my toes when using it.

Right. One of the rules is that ので is hardly used with strong "mood" like order, volition, invitation in the sentence end. In the examples below, から sounds more natural to me.
凍ってるので気をつけろ！
凍ってるから気をつけろ！

凍ってるので気をつけよう
凍ってるから気をつけよう

凍ってるので気をつけて
凍ってるから気をつけて

Also, ので can't be used with the guess form ～だろう.
×凍ってるだろうので気をつけて
○凍ってるだろうから気をつけて
