I would suggest you to take bus... there is a bus station nearer, which will save you about 100m from the Ampang Park Station. Otherwise you can choose to drop at Nikko Hotel/ Citibank there.

Now KL even rain in the morning???? That would be bad... Imagine our sweat mix with the rain water...☝

Last week KL rained like cats and dogs every evening except this few days.
and yes, the place is opposite the Embassy, across Jalan Tun Razak. I don't remember any pedestrian bridges nearby and it seems impossible to jay walk across Jln Tun Razak, we have the best traffic there.
If you're taking public transport (LRT for e.g.), you may catch a cab to the place. It shouldn't cost you more than RM8 for such a short distance.

At the end of the road, there is a pedestrian bridge connecting from the the shopping centre to the other end of the road, I think there is a hotel there (Plaza Ampang/ City Square?). I am not sure whether you will get taxis there, as the taxi there would be occupied or booked, from my experience.

We are also arriving on the 2nd to LA from Miami, but our plane arrives at 18:25.... maybe you can wait for us and share the long wait, that would be great!! There's 7 of us, 6 for graduate and 1 for undergrad, so there's plenty of company

Yeah! we should definitely meet, and figure out a way to recognize each other, one that is not dressing in traditional customs and doing traditiational dances hopefully. We are two dominicans for graduate school.

yes we suppose to register by 10.45 am... the whole ceremoney also quite short.. 12.000 finish d.. fuh..

By the way, do u guys know what is the agenda "adress by scholar"?? we have to give speech one by one?? haha..

I thought the ceremony will end at 1.30pm? There is one orientation and one send-off ceremony... So both events will finish at 12noon? The invitation reached my house, but I still haven't got the chance to look at it... I am away from my home...

I'll most probably be driving. Parking will definitely be a problem, maybe need to go early to look for a safe spot (won't get summoned).

sthg to share~ I live quite close to Jalan Ampang~ so i am kinda familiar with the condition of tht area. A cab would be the best choice for those who are taking public transport. Actually the Ampang Park station is not that far from the venue of our ceremony. I would definitely recommend that you take the cab (don't worry about the availability.. the cabs are actually continuously available at the LRT station). You guys should go to the Ampang Park side, not the Nikko/Citibank side. It won't cost you up till RM8 (that's too much) besides, the event is not during peak hour.. don't worry about the traffic there. It is our special day after all.. i jz think that we should arrive there in style y'know~~

I think you will get summons easily there, since it is the residence of ambassador... However, there is one German Institution there, not sure whether you can park there.

Shouldn't that be 30kg, after adding up you hand-carry luggage? So we are not getting that 10kg extra allowance... But I remember reading in the website of JAL that 23kg is the maximum, why are we only getting 20kg?

I thought that the weight is calculated differently for hand carry.. we only get 20 kg for check in and for hand carry they look at the size of the baggage?? Isnt that the case???

I plan to check in 1 baggage and hand carry another smaller baggae together with my laptop backpack and a sling bag.. not sure if they will allow so many bags for hand carry.. :?

I think your embassy was trying to negotiate with JAL to get you guys 10kg more than normal luggage limit. But JAL hasn't replied yet, so it doesn't seem likely. Oh and I don't think they will allow you to carry on 3 bags... be careful.

I think cannot take too many begs for hand-carry luggage...but not very sure though.

While checking the JAL website last time, they stated that your handcarry should be less than 10kg. I am not sure whether notebook bags are excluded from that... So in total we can bring 20kg for our luggage (20kg maximum, the latest) and 10kg of handcarry luggage.

About the souvenir from Malaysia: Someone suggested brining a tour guide handbook to our professors and friends in our lab. It is a good opportunity to introduce them to Malaysia.

Anyway, last time when we had our company event, my boss bought a penang heritage book with alot of pictures introducing penang whic i tot was a very good souvenir.. however i dunno where he bought it and now he's on a business trip i cannot ask him... i already bought a cheap cheap souvenir for my professor so nevermind la..

I just packed my luggage this morning. It's 20kg, not including my shoes.
My luggage is quite heavy, around 4 kg, that means I can only bring 16kg of stuff.
what I did is just bring miniature size of the toiletries, coz it just for the first month.
I think for body shampoo (600ml) ,I bring soap (2 x90g=180g) instead.

Toothpaste, I bring the 2 travel size toothpastes (2x20g=40g) instead of bringing the 250g/175g standardsized toothpaste.

Try to bring light material clothes, pants, shoes, scarf.
U know every gram counts hahaha..
I think we better put 1 or 2 set of clothes and pants in our handcarry just in case any missing of the luggage.
Can we bring backpack instead of the handcarry baggage? Coz I just saw kouki post that we can only bring the baggage according to the dimension which set by JAL.

I think you can bring the backpack, as long as it falls within the specification.
Some shoe sizes are not available there... so people like me might have problems finding shoes fitting my size over there. By the way, Japanese are using different shoe size scale with us. We are using UK, US or European standards. It is a bit different over there. They even have A, B, C, ..., E, EE, EEE, EEEE and F over there. Sizes are like 24, 25, 26 or something. Try wiki or google and you should be able to see them.

i think as long as they're not prescription drugs you don't need to declare them
