MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2009: Post Application

Yeah, I've decided to panic later as well. I'll leave it up to fate. I actually emailed my professor in the midst of my panic and I think some of my hysteria got through in the email and he replied (very reassuringly) that I can come to Japan first and then prepare. He thinks there is sufficient time. I still think he's overestimating my capability to recall stuff I've learned years ago but anyhoo.........
To ooilingfan,
Anytime, man. Anytime.

thank you in advance

i agree with your professor, do only what is certainly helpful right now. I.e. Japanese language.
You will prepare more effectively once you come here and have a better idea on the content of your entrance exam. Thing is even after 5 months being here, i am still quite blur on mine! all i know is the date, and that they have recently modified the system this year to an interview and presentation, omitting the written test part (for my faculty).

Meanwhile, relax and enjoy malaysian food as much as you can =)
Autumn is coming and i think fruits and vegetables are going to more scarce. Prices of veges have started to jump, some 2-3 times more.

Yup, that's the plan.

I asked my japanese teacher and apparently, come autumn and winter, there's lots of grapes and oranges. And apples.

As for the entrance exam, one of the reasons why I panicked was because I have to take the exam in Feb next year. Taking into account the fact that I also have to attend the japanese classes and that I am super rusty in my university subjects kinda contributed to the panic. I probably should be at least refreshing my mind on some subjects right now but after the initial panic, a certain sort of zen (might be just laziness) has taken hold of me. I dunno.

Anyway, good luck for your exam. I think it's better not to have a written exam. My professor said that the interview is just about asking you why you wanna join the school. But different universities do it differently i suppose.

Please remember to get your copy of past year questions on your written test, from either your professor or the person-in-charge in the admission centre. They are even completed with answers. Do remember that for Japanese, if your final answer is wrong, your solution won't be getting any marks. :) Good luck for your preparation for your entrance examination. Mine would be in February as well.

Hi all,

October is around the corner. For those who will be going to Japan, I think are busy preparing. BTW anybody staying or going to stay in Soshigaya International House?

Is anyone else worried about the fate of our potential scholarships now that the party that favored internationalization is out of power? I know this is also a political question, but I'm seriously concerned that the MEXT scholarship might get cut somehow...

I guess, since they're backing off from their typical anti-foreigner propoganda, maybe they'll leave us alone...

@akaitsume
In deed I am worried as well, cause currently I am a substitute candidate waiting for my answer in november. I know about the fact they have reduced the monthly stipend for everyone because of the world crisis but i just hope it will not mean to reduce the number of scholarships too. I havent hear any rumor yet. I am possitive on receiving good news on the next months. Having faith and crossing fingers.
