BTW, "hakase" can mean professor or Ph.D. holder but is more often used to suggest a person who is very wise or extremely knowledgeable, such as ものしり博士(ものしりはかせ).
If the meaning is restricted to Ph.D. holder, 博士 is commonly read "hakushi."

And to round it off, the one that I always forget: 学士(がくし)-- bachelor's.
