とこ is used as an abbreviation for ところ very often in casual speech.
Thanks, I imagined it could be short for tokoro but I had never come across it in grammar books.
Elizabeth: thanks for the short explanation but I am still a little confused. Could someone link me to an online grammar dictionary that explains というところ? Or better yet just give me the site of a good one so I in the future I can try to look things like this up myself first? (Thanks! J-J is ok).
