How come I get this?

Ayu-youkou, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

That's what I get when trying to view the current users online and I had it on a few other things as well in the past. I don't see why someone would have specific privileges to view who's online and what their looking at?

Double post to prove some point.

I sometimes use others IPs from different countries, so does that mean I would get in trouble here for hiding my privacy generally when coming online?

As I was ignored in the other topic what was closed and like you can see I'm now posting with an IP from Turkey, yet I am sitting here pretty tired behind my PC right in Flanders Belgium.

I don't change my IP all the time, but I do from time to time.

You can't view the users online because you need to be a Donator. As for using multiple IP's...who cares?

Not sure about other staff, but I only check the IP the member uses to join/register with. If the IP matches the "Country/State of residence" I'm happy and then I check to see if the member has any other accounts all ready under the same IP. With software restrictions , not much else I can do.

wow, first forum I know you need special privileges for that option.

@Obeika: I couldn't view what is on it, it shows just a blank page for me.

And according to what I read of some people in the closed topic, it was sometimes a big deal with the IP...

As far as I undrstand it (and please correct me where i'm wrong):

Ayu-youkou - on the main forum page (in the bottom half) you should see a box with 'currently active users' underlined above it. That will show you who is 'active' (minus those users who have chosen to keep their online status hidden).

If you actually click on the 'currently active users' link, you get that message, because the true list of everyone who's online is only available to members with special privileges - 'Donators' for example.

I would guess that the other times you've seen that message, you've also been trying to click on areas that are reserved for admins/moderators/etc.


Uncle Frank - many thanks for your explanation As Ayu-youkou said, the other thread left it a bit unclear about the use of IP tracking, and the reasons for it. I might be travelling a fair bit around the world this year, and accessing the forum from different countries, so that was certainly a concern for me. Your post has certainly greatly reassured, but at the same time it would be nice to hear if other folks in the 'empowered' positions here do any more than that with IPs, for security and privacy issues alone...
