I was just telling someone about that song the other day; it's hard to imagine what it must be like to hear English without understanding it, so making it unintelligible lets you focus on the song-like nature of the spoken word.

This guy does a good job at it too, you can even tell the general region he's imitating (sounds texan)

To be honest, most of the music that comes out today, supposedly in English, sounds like gibberish to me! Why don't they enunciate their love for "baby, baby, baby"?

I've heard Spanish people making English-sounding gibberish and of course English speakers verbalising Italian/Chinese/Japanese/Indian gibberish (usually as a form of ridicule), but that was the in the dark 70s!

You've probably heard that speech has a melody to it, but we seldom hear that 'prosody' except perhaps in the sing-song of the Liverpool accent. So a researcher set out to find out why we don't hear melody in normal speech. She found that hearing requires repetition which she demonstrated with

I do wonder if this is why classical music isn't very popular with the masses. The melodies are rarely repeated or at least undergo clever variations that require concentration to appreciate rather than the mindless, nauseating repetition of say

That is brilliant! Of course that's American English….Correct English requires hard consonants and 't' not to be pronounced as a 'd'.

There is no such thing as "American English" anymore than there is "British English". Maybe think before you insult an entire
accent? In what world is any "American English Word" that is supposed to be pronounced with a 'T' is pronounced as a 'D'? Perhaps you are thinking of Italian, where hard consonants are required?

Here's a song that showcases the beauty of the American Accent at its finest in the 80's, for people interested in learning English. Ironically, it uses hard 't's and not soft ones? WOW! What an advancement for America. I'd also like to point out that the British accent ignores the 't' sound quite a bit. Assuming Harry Potter is correct.

edit: Btw... fun fact. If you have seen the movie "The Patriot" by Mel Gibson. Some people assumed the movie was inaccurate when it came to the accent. Since they sounded more American than British (Only problem with that theory is, the Brits would have likely sounded like that during that period). I think it was during Victorian Era, thats when British English started to sound somewhat different from American English.

Btw interms of rap. I quite like "Wu-Tang Clan". Usually i don't like rap much, due to the whole gangsta stereotypes of "pimps, drugs and chicks" yknow the whole thing?

Wu-Tang Clan is only slightly gangsta, but mostly not. Its very creative well made music! Been listening to it for awhile, and i say if more rap was like this, i would likely be more of a rap listener. Just great stuff!

Or never mind. I think "Wu-Tang Clan" is creative but. Nah its 100% stereotypical gangsta rap in some songs like METHOD man. But it is less bad than some other rap bands i have heard

Or the way i see it. I on a unofficial level will say "Wu-Tang Clan" is great. If one can ignore the stereotypes within gangsta rap. Then its legit a talented hip hop group. Or i guess i can say, i respect their talent!

Try chewing gum, distracting yourself with a puzzle or other absorbing activity, listening to the song in its entirety or consider calling in an exorcist from your parentally-chosen belief system.

David Bowie's mysterious song, 'Black Star' is the most lethal ear worm for me. Even hearing other songs with similar sounds, consecutive note intervals or chord-progression fragments is as infective as Ebola!

After doing some research. I came to this conclusion around hip hop and rap (Yeah i am a nerd haha)

I think the stereotype around rap or hip hop. Is based on that it sounds like its all about "Cars, Drugs, chicks and money". Making it feel, what you can say? Impulsive.

I think reason i like rap or hip hop. Is for the fact that it works on the logic of writing in a diary. In sense of people making up words on what is happening in their life but with rhymes.

But i think if one understand the concept of, diary logic of, someone will sing what goes on in their life. Then its easy to remove some of that narrow minded small minded mentality around it? Since it is easy to assume it at first. And at first i was one of those guys too who thought so. Til i realized the more complex nature around it.

Out of Hip Hop groups. I am mostly into Wu-Tang Clan

Although apparently. Snoop Dogg had connections to Crips gang before he left them for career in Rap music which is something i didnt know. In GTA San Andreas game. They had two rivaling gangs based on Crips and Bloods (Grove Street vs Ballas) interms of fictional gangs in that game.

After listening to this song. Its official. I declare "Wu-Tang Clan" the best Hip Hop group! Been listening to albums of "36 Chambers" "Wu-Tang Forever" and "Iron Flag". I didn't bother with "The W" album because... not gonna get that Gravel Pit song if i can help it

I tried to give rap a chance. But nah i hate it. this is the only rap song i like. Since it has valid criticism of that environment. Whether its caused by Hollywood environment or other degenerate cases and such? Whatever the cause is? Whether its bad environment or other factors. Either case. This song works atleast!
