I have been searching around the internet about life in Tokushima - Japan. However little is provided about the city life, unlike many people talk about Tokyo, Kyoto and the rest.

Anyone who has first hand experience about life in Tokushima or Naruto city. Especially for a foreigner. Is life there cheap? How is night life here? Are there recreational activities and areas, how is life in general in Tokushima?

Tokushima has plenty of bars (more per capita than any other prefecture) according to this.
Rent is substantially cheaper there compared to Tokyo.

Shikoku is a gorgeous island with a very mountainous interior, there's a ton of nature to explore and the southern coast is beautiful. It's also the home of the 88 temple pilgrimage, which is a great aspect of the island's culture and heritage, and a good way to connect with locals and travelers alike. There are Ohenro (pilgrim) centric facebook groups that are pretty active, and most of the people there are either pilgrims themselves or people living there. Tokushima is one of the larger cities but it's still a smaller city feeling, in my recollection, compared to the larger population centers.

I couldn't speak to living there long term, but it's a place I've found myself returning to more than once. In fact, I just arrived for a quick trip, and I'll be riding the Shimanami Kaido this weekend and doing a quick trip around Shikoku.

Awesome! You made me love the city in a minute. I will be landing in Tokushima on October. I'm really anxious to explore the city. Thanks for the detailed information. I wish we could catch up over the weekend for a ride. But I will not have arrived. But by 1st if October if you will plan another trip to Tokushima, be sure I will be there already!

I've never been to Tokushima, but your quality of living will most likely be highly correlated with your Japanese language ability.
Yes actually I have seen the cost od living is not high. I am really anxious about the city life. Thanks for your response

I will have six-month training on Japanese language. I guess by the end of the period I will be able to communicate basic Japanese and survive the life around Shikoku
Please keep in touch here and let us know how it's going. We can also answer most questions you may have about Japanese or Japan.

Thank you. You are amazing ❤️. The population details has helped me a lot to know what I am expecting. I am from Africa, I know I will find few Africans there. But what I love most is meeting new people. I can't wait to make friends with the Japanese, Chinese and those from the East

Kim-san,

I am glad you have learned hiragana.

How about katakana?

Please post some examples of words in hiragana that you have trouble understanding.

All I know is reading, I do practice reading, so there's a lot more I don't know in meaning. I can read, but not get the information. As for Katakana I have not finished my Hiragana classes yet

Kim-san,

Let us know when you finish your hiragana classes.
