Me.

If you take the time to look at old posts on Japanese here , there is probably enough info to fill 10 text books on Japanese. I think over the years , every question a person learning Japanese has , has been covered here. Finding sites where you can listen to Japanese being spoken is a good idea to get pronunciation right. I bet being in California , you can find a Japanese teacher to help you for not to much money. Sometimes you can find night school classes that don't cost much. For me , I found if I couldn't use my Japanese almost everyday , my ability faded away. It might be worth checking if you have any Japanese school classmates who could help you also.
You know what I mean by Daiji, right? I cleared that up?

I'll take your word for it , LOL. I guess what shocked me was in the 52 years since I left Japan , I had never heard that term before. I guess you can teach an old dog a new trick , LOL.

Sounds like a good deal. Years ago my night school here in Maine held a class on Japanese. The instructor was a beautiful young Japanese woman which made the class more interesting. I went into the class thinking there would be nothing new I could learn , but it would be good practice. She soon smartened me up on how poor my Japanese was . Although I had a college class set of books and tapes , I learned most of my Japanese in the bar where I worked in Japan. Most of my Japanese friends were school dropouts and they never corrected me on my Japanese. That class taught me more about my "know it all" attitude than it did Japanese , LOL. I hope you follow up on your desire to learn Japanese and get to visit Japan in the future. At 74 years old , I still think my 2 years in Japan were the best of my life. My love of Japan and it's people have kept me here on JREF for over 20 years.

Living in japan and touring it and South Korea are at the top of my bucket list, so I have to learn Japanese and Korean LOL

Derek,

Now is the time. Watch the first video in this thread. Tell me what you think.

One thing I feel that I need to clear up is that my name is NOT Derek. It's cool if you guys call me that, but I want to let you know that is a nickname and not my real name. I don't want people thinking my name is Derek, bc it's not. With time, maybe I'll tell you guys my real name. That time is not now.

Have a nice day!

What would you like us to call you?

Oh I don't mind if you call me Derek, but you could even call me yaptimus prime. I just didn't want people getting confused and thinking my name was derek
