We'll be back to japan next Friday (28th), maybe 11 days total including travel. Pics are at the Art Institute, the 'park' next door is Millennium Park--and unfortunately 'the Bean' has been under maintenance and will only open up about when we leave. (We did sort of see it from a distance.)
I have one sister who has been right downtown for years near the Northwestern campus (an area called Streeterville, near north side). One daughter who is finishing a grad degree on that same campus (tho she and her husband live in Evanston). Our other daughter and her family have flown in from california for the week, too. We're sort of gathered at a rental house in Skokie, which seems to be working out fine. Yesterday, kids and a few adults went to the Children's museum, my sis and our son in law and wife and I went to the art institute (mostly for a georgia okeefe show, but there's lots of other stuff to see--e.g., the complete photo series of
the Brown sisters, which was a hit with my wife and sister). Some of us visited the
Sketchbook Brewery (skokie) for craft beers last night.
There was a chance that my brother and other sis would get here--was looking forward to that--but they were unable to make it.
