WWII IJA Funerary Urn?

Does anyone recognize this alleged WWII urn as the real thing? I always read that ashes returned to Japan were in wooden boxes....

Nothing other than the pic of the kanji, which I cannot read anyway......... this is the info that seller has.... but I still don't know if this is real WWII or not since I cannot find anything on the web about this type of urn...

ah, thank you. I have the info on a separate piece of paper from the war, but is the urn WWII issue?

The date of the death is written on the urn.
昭和十八年五月二十九日没
Died on 29th May, 1943

I googled, and got results that there were cases where a ceramic urn was returned to the bereaved family.
