I don't know how they get rid of them. Here is another picture.
There was a cultural festival here last week. I took these on Saturday. I think on Sunday it ended up raining. Down the street in Yudo Onsen there was an October Yamaguchi made beer festival. I didn't try any of the beer though. It was bit smaller this year then years in the past.
I don't have any pictures of since I try to stay away with people in them unless I have there permission.

This is where the dahlia "live". The red ones are really nice, but it has been impossible getting any kind of a good shot of those--they just look like red blobs, with little showing in the way of individual petals. (reds on the lower right are something else) Someone plays/practices piano there. I can usually hear someone playing when I stop for the flowers.

I think it's about end of season, so perhaps the last set for this year. Nothing done to these except cropping.

Was out cycling today. Here is a park in Yamaguchi. Having a tuna fish sandwich and chips. A nice Autumn noon.

I'm not sure these are good enough to post, but sometimes you have to look at thing that are not quite right, or don't 'click' for one reason or another, in order to see what it is that you should have done (how a shot, even if out of your control, could have been different, and so--better). Cropped differently, or if the subject itself had been more amenable, etc. To learn how to "see" better.

Those are very nice motives! Definitely "good enough".

Anyhow, this thread is for all categories of Japan-related photos, from snapshots of daily life and street scenery to more artistic imagery. I have not given up hope other J-residents will share some of their shots, too.

Here's a glimpse of the former Tsukiji market, seen from Kachidoki Bridge.

I have admired this old Tsukiji corner building with its copper (?) coating for years. It seems to be a katsuobushi shop. I couldn't get a better angle because of parked cars.

After two days of rain, we had a balmy November day, warm enough to go out short-short.

The bamboo walk is local, maybe 20 minutes to get to the 'entrance', an hour(?) to do the circle/loop, another 20min from there home. And there's some 'elevation' as they say in the cycling world--the first half of the loop is generally up, and then down.

In other seasons there are some farmers around, since to get bamboo shoots/takenoko, it needs to be cut back to stimulate/signal shoots in the spring. The second pic is like that, thinned out for the open feel, and the root structure knows to try to grow/sprout more (like Arashiyama in Kyoto --the famous walk there is not 'natural' at all, it is very carefully cut/manicured to be that way). The first pic is uncut/uncultivated, just going wild. And it can get really thick/dense if left alone--impenetrable.

The other day about halfway thru another walker caught up with me. I tried to stay ahead when I noticed him, but he was cruising faster than I was. I like the alone-ness of the walk, and sometimes stop to just look around. But this guy was a walker, and a talker. Turned out that tho he's local, it was his first time on the loop and he didn't know where he was (or that it was a loop!), just out walking, kind of semi-lost. I tried to explain, that there were no worries, and that it was a loop (there are a couple side roads, but the main one is easy to follow, and the side roads are dead ends). We talked and talked, walking, back to the entrance, at which point he finally realized the point I was trying to make (that it was a loop). On the other hand, he was older, cruising right along for an 85-year old. (I'm 71 now.)

And coming to the end and back out, he kind of apologized and said his ears weren't very good. I thought about it, but didn't apologize for my imperfect japanese. I thought it maybe kind of dove-tailed with his hearing...! So it was a case of two old guys meeting and talking on the road, and communicating in spite of their disabilities.

Very scenic! It also looks perfectly ridable, provided you have wider tyres.

Out biking today. Was raining earlier, but sun came out.
The pictures are on the way to Akiyoshidai, Yamaguchi. It's about 23 km to get there. I haven't tried going all the way yet, but it's all mountains.

The mountains in the back are the ones l have to truck up on sometime in the future.

The riffraff are allowed to walk through part of the grounds of the Imperial Palace until about Dec 4th. I went along and took some photos. Note that the photo with the rushes was taken in Kitamaru Park, to the north of the Imperial Palace, and there's an added bonus photo of Lothor - Live at the Budokan!

Nice shots! Was this on Sunday? I thought of joining the riffraff but may reconsider after seeing the crowds.
