Yes, we do still have some vkei bands, but they don't get as much attention as they used to. Its pretty rare to find people who know about vkei now a days, and its rarer to find a vkei band that still gets a good amount of views. So, is it possible it might be dying out? Tell me your opinion on it!
 
A term to used to describe a certain aesthetic in Japanese Rock. I don't know how to describe it well but we usually use it with bands that have a very unique and even androgynous style in Jrock. Bands such as Dir En Gray, The Gazette, and Malice Mizer are a good example of that.
 
Visual kei used to be the trend, but now those trend-setters have become middle aged and have turned into the "establishment" against which the younger generation wants to rebel. Gackt is such a part of the establishment that he's now shilling real estate in Malaysia. Its not exactly the kind of "cool" that young kids aspire to.
(Said with some shade, because I will never be as cool as Gackt.)

I'd like to see more of this rebellion that you speak of in Japan!
