Your first Japanese band?

What was your first Japanese band you lisened to?

I went and bought Pulse by Mad Capsule Markets and Loose by B'z. Those were my first cd's, I can't remember which cd I played first though.

I think Iceman. Wow, yeah. Or the Seatbelts, does that count? They're instrumental but they kick boo-tay.

I think it was either Siam Shade or Aikawa Nanase, which a friend of mine had on his minidisc-player.

The first cd i bought was Jealousy from X.

I was listening to a lot of anime soundtrack music at first, but the band that led me fully into the J-Pop scene was L'arc~en~ciel... after hearing "Blurry Eyes" in the anime DNA^2, I blindly bought the album "True" and enjoyed it. I've been buying J-Pop of all styles ever since...

Puffy Ami Yumi- boggie #5 I saw it on TV (music video) and I really liked it. That was a few years back, but later on I was introduced to Gackt by a good friend of mine.

Could be various... Dreams Come True, because they made the music soundtrack for the game "Sonic the hedgehog" 1 & 2 for the Mega Drive/Sega Genesis system. Of course I didn't know that at the time, but some time ago I've listened "Sweet sweet sweet" by DCT and was totally surprised that was a vocal version (or well, the original song) of the ending of Sonic the hedgehog 2.
Or it could be MAKE-UP, with their hit "Pegasus Fantasy" in Saint Seiya.
But if you're asking what was the first band that makes me crazy, it is Malice Mizer

I can't remember the first BAND(anime op by a band doesn't count), but the first individual was TM Revolution. The first band and individual I liked were Malice Mizer and Gackt >_>;;
Dir en grey was another early one too, but I had only heard "ain't afraid to die", which I didn't like then and I still don't like now =(

Oh yeah - first CD(s) I bought were Gackt's Moon and Malice Mizer's Beast of Blood single. I believe I listened to BoB first though, cause I was and am more enthusiastic about MM more than Gackt.

Eh....eh.... I feel really old in here. My first J-bands were "The Checkers" and "Anzen Chitai."
Koji Tamaki of Anzen Chitai is still very talentive despite his old age.

Such as MHtrStevie, my first one was L'Arc~en~Ciel with "Blurry Eyes" but I didn't pay much attention on them until I also listened their songs in the Rurouni Kenshin soundtrack (Niji and The 4th Avenue Coffee) it was when i started with J-Pop/J-Rock and left anime sountracks

While L'arc was the band to lead me across the anime/J-Pop divide, I'd have to list Anzen Chitai among the first bands I heard... "Sukisa" is a well-known theme to the anime Maison Ikkoku. So I was listening to Koji Tamaki pretty early in my listening days too... I just didn't realize it until much later...

There are probably a number of Japanese bands that I have heard, but not listened to when I was watching anime while I was still a kid.
The first Japanese band that I truly LISTEN to was Luna Sea, then came X-Japan. L'Arc~en~Ciel was the first band that I love enough to seek out and buy their album. (The trigger was Kasou and a number of their darker songs.)
