It hard to think of time when the Internet didn't exist. I can't believe how much I use it. I love when I can find music, poems or whatever that I can't remember the name and can't find it, but search and search and then it happens; I finally find it on the Internet. The past day I was thinking back when I was teenager and there was one song that I could kind of remember and I knew that I liked it a lot, but I couldn't think of who sang it or many of the words. It was driving me crazy. Then I found it. It was Motortown by the Kane Gang, a one hit wonder back in 1986-87. Then I found a poem that I loved called Fireworks, but of course I could only remember part of the first line and the word malachite.

Fireworks by Amy Lowell

You hate me and I hate you,
And we are so polite, we two!

But whenever I see you, I burst apart
And scatter the sky with my blazing heart.
It spits and sparkles in stars and balls,
Buds into roses--and flares, and falls.

Scarlet buttons, and pale green disks,
Silver spirals and asterisks,
Shoot and tremble in a mist
Peppered with mauve and amethyst.

I shine in the windows and light up the trees,
And all because I hate you, if you please.

And when you meet me, you rend asunder
And go up in a flaming wonder
Of saffron cubes, and crimson moons,
And wheels all amaranths and maroons.

Golden lozenges and spades,
Arrows of malachites and jades,
Patens of copper, azure sheaves.
As you mount, you flash in the glossy leaves.

Such fireworks as we make, we two!
Because you hate me and I hate you.

So what were the things that you just had to find out on the Internet? I'd love to hear them! 👍

This old song from when I was in High School. It haunted me for years. Not being able to remember the name but just a snippet of the high pitch whine sound that was popular in slow songs in the 90's. And a bit of the chorus. Then one day on you tube I found it.

I just watched it! You know I can't remember that song or video. Where was I? Did that get played on Mtv? Isn't it like a relief when you can finally find what's driving you crazy? Your mind can stop trying to remember the words the tune or what have you. That's how I felt with that poem. I could remember that hate part and the word malachite and I knew there were other colors but I just couldn't get "there".

Well, back when I was in going to culinary arts school one of my friends showed me an old game called Persona. The game was okay, but there was a poem at the start that was really good. I didn't write down the name of the game or the name of who wrote the poem. It was driving me nuts since I remembered bits and pieces. Anyway, after I transfered to the school in San Francisco I was messing around online looking at different RPGs for PS2 and I found the game. Not only that the poem was listed with the game.

I dreamt I was a butterfly.
I couldn't tell if I was dreaming.
But when I woke, I was I and not a butterfly.
Was I dreaming that I was the butterfly, or was the butterfly dreaming that it was me? Even if there'sa difference between the butterfly and I, the distinction isn't absolute.
And there is no relationship of cause and effect.

Whenever I need to clear my head I think of this poem. Thank goodness for the internet or I would still be going crazy thinking about it.

I really like that poem. I am very happy that you could find it. Another happy find on the Internet! :)

It's hard to choose one thing. I guess I would go with people. I've made friends on the internet that I would never have met in normal life, most of them right here on this forum :-)

OMG Tsuyoiko, your post made me realize that I forgot my best find so far. I had a dear, dear friend who I met at one of my first jobs. We would get together at least once a month for a "girls night out". We had so much fun. Well, my ex-husband hated her because she was single and he thought we were out cruising for guys. That was so stupid, we would go out to our favorite Mexican restaurant and then to her house and watch some lame chick flicks. Anyway, because of his attitude towards her we lost contact. Now that my life is back on track, I tried to find her. She no longer lived around here. I googled her name and nothing. Finally, I was able to find a newspaper from her hometown that had her wedding announcement online. I was able to use her married name, and I found her in Texas! I sent her a Christmas card, as I couldn't get a phone number and I wanted to make sure it really was her, and YAY, it was. That was my BEST find ever. I regret though that I let my ex dictate who my friends could be, and because of that I missed her wedding.

My best find on the internet was the D905i from NTT DoCoMo. However, it isn't available in the UK. I want one! Might have to get my penpal to buy it and send it over in a parcel (it is usable overseas, just on quite high rates. Still, these rates are lower than my current mobile(cell) phone. :D

I don't remember there being a video for that song either. But I remember hearing it on the radio a few times. Once when I was relaxing with a girlfriend. That one time i distinctly remember hearing that song.

When I was about 12 years old Happy Hardcore was pretty popular in my country, and I just really loved Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo.

Here is a remix of them...

(they always made me happy... :D

I think the most astounding thing I've found on the internet has been the entirety of Interstella 5555, the feature length video that was essentially a music video to Daft Punk's album: Discovery. I'd remembered seeing a tiny portion of it on television years ago and was delighted to find it, in its entirety, online.👍

I found a poem we had read in RE at school, but all I could remember was the line, "Even as love crowns you, so shall he crucify you". I googled it and came up with a poem by Khalil Gibran. (The Prophet - Wikiquote)

Those are great poems Kinsao. I really like the "on Friendship" poem. Thank-you for sharing. :)

My favorite internet find was probably freepowerboards.com! But that's not so official.

Well, the most disturbing video I've ever found on the internet has to be the kitten/puppies being crushed to death by stiletto pumps, or the cat being burned to death and the maker of the video consequently being found by his country's police force. I forgot which though.

But, the most shocking has to be when videos of terrorists beheading hostages showed up online.

On a more positive note, torrents have been the best thing to happen to my life because of the internet.

I hope those things weren't your favorite finds! Those are all terrible...

I don't think I put favorite even remotely close to any of the "finds" I mentioned. They were just interesting in a very sick and eye-opening way.

Those videos I mentioned were posted on Ogrish.com, which was bought out and is now part of a more tamed streaming-video news website.

The point of this thread was about your "FAVORITE" internet find, not just a thread where you can talk about your gore...

I don't care about the beheading, but the guy killing cats should be tortured, humiliated and killed along with his family and all his relatives in a very painful manner.

Besides the point.....But, I'd love to hear anyone else's favorite find! :)

Over 6 years that I've been using internet frequently, I've descovered a lot of great sites that have amused me - and some still do - for a great amount of time:

- www.hattrick.org : This is an online soccer management game with over 500.000 users from all over the world. I used to be addicted to this game but it's been 2 years now that it became boring.

- http://www.stage6.com/ : I descovered this site almost a year ago. I use it a lot to find dramas, anime or PV's in high quality.

- http://www.flabber.nl/ : A Dutch weblog that I almost visit every day starting 4 years ago. It's a great way to stay up-to-date with all the crazyness that goes around the internet.

- Hydraulic 6C T6D T6E T7E Single Vane Pump T6ECM050B173R15C1 stock with low price : A recently descovered utulity that works as youtube, but in place of looking up videos it goes trough a great database of songs. You can also make your own online mp3 database.
