You Know You're Anal When....

I'm sure everybody here has their own curiously quirky habits that have become second nature and perfectly understandable to you, but makes everyone else scratch their heads in utter confusion. Mine regards money.

Without fail, I always store paper money in my wallet in descending order (i.e.: $20, $10, $5, $1) with all folds in the corners straightened out and with the presidents right side up instead of upside down. I actually go out of my way to make sure my money is in it's proper order and looks neat in my wallet. Hell, the only thing that keeps me from putting bills I carry in serial number order is that I don't hold onto it for very long. Wild, huh?

So, that's my anal little habit. What's yours?

Amazing, I do the same thing with yen bills (but always running out of Fukuzawas too fast)!

How do you deal with coins though?

Interesting, I put my yen notes in the smaller to greater order, with the greater on the inside as you open it up. I have the long style wallet, not a folding one. Coins I don't do.

Funny thing about coins, I just stuff 'em in my back pocket, but always my right back pocket. When I get home at the end of the day, I have three glasses on my dresser for nickels, dimes and quarters while I have a small bucket for pennies. And boy, do those coins ever pile up!

I only wish I had enough money to be able to sort it in order! I rarely even see any paper money at all, and then it's usually only fivers

I have lots of anal habits, some of which have a logical reason, most of which don't! I don't like different food mixing on my plate, e.g. if my peas get mixed in with my chips I have to fish them out. I always tie my left shoe first, and the laces have to be exactly equal on each side of the bow. One that has a good reason behind it: when I am watching a DVD box set I have a way of putting the DVDs in the box so I know which disk I watched last. Unwatched disks go upside down, half-watched ones get rotated through 90 degrees, watched ones go right way up.

A few, including putting notes in order in my wallet. Actually it makes sense in the US to do it, after all your notes are all the same size and colour. It's probably better that to stuff them in any order.
Some of mine are straightening pictures, switching off plug sockets if there isn't a plug in, them cleaning sinks, putting the toliet seat down because I think it looks better and when I put CDs and DVDs away the disc has to be the right way up

Well, my keys always go in my left front pocket, wallet in my right front, loose change in right rear and receipts from ATM's in my left rear which I shred when I get home. All part of the routine. Oh, yeah, all my CD's, manga and DVD's are in alphabetical order, regarding shoes, I put the left one on first but tie the right first. HA! Aren't we all weird? (said affectionately!)

i used to live with a man who counted how many sheets of toilet paper i used and could told i took some MnMs cause he would fold it jsut right or that i didnt feed the cat because he would count the water rings fromt he wet cat food... nothing.. lol.. nothing go past him.. alhough i took the new pickup once and he didnt notice..

now mostly i just keep everything semetrical. i have a coin bowl and also i 500/100 yen coins stacked. everything is straigh and 90 degree angles... i make sure the edges of stuff is flush with whatever it is stacked on.. atleast on 1 side... just little things like that

I dont have any habits like that. at least i dont think so. maybe i do something strange that i dont notice ?

that doesnt sound to anal to me -- more like "i know where my things are" .. some of people ( like me ) could do with some more of that

I have a hang-up about....

my cat's 2 litter boxes. I clean them every other day, sifting them many times to get out every little piece of crap. I put baking soda under the litter to avoid any smells. Every 2 weeks , I dump out the old for new and wash the boxes really well. I recall years back reading about how cats love a clean litter box, so I try to make sure my 2 girls are happy.

Well, to tell you the truth, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if that's being anal, or just part of my daily routine!

That's reminded me of another of mine. On the arm of my personal half of the sofa I have a coaster that says "Totally addicted to computer games". It has to be right on the edge, with the same amount overlapping on each side, and the writing right-way-up as I'm looking at it. I always put my mug/glass exactly in the middle of it.

Well, here's another charming(?) quirk. In my closets, I have my shirts and pants in order from light to dark colors. I'm particularly fussy about that, though I have no idea where that came from!

did i mention i fold my toilet paper at the end to make it even?...

I always leave my toilet seat down.. never up.. bathroom door shut.. never open.. my wall closets have padlock thingys on them.. and i make sure to leave them pointing half way from 1 to 2 oclock.. I could think of other little things like that.. but those are what come to mind first.

I could be here for hours; i myself suffer from mild-OCD, things have to be a certain way, my keys have to be in my right pocket, phone in left, money in back left pocket. MY hands have to occupied (i know what you think), HAVE to sleep on the right side of my bed. Each time i leave the house i have to go back and check if the dogs are in, i see them, leave, go back to see if they're there, and leave and go back. A lot of time lately i've been working on controlling it and its working.

Whenever I get a magazine, I have to go through the whole thing and rip out all the ads for subscriptions, cologne/perfume ads, music mailing services, whatever. I can't stand those things.

And while I like my bills in order as well, the corners can be however they want.
