Looking for assistance translating characters on WWII flag shown below. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you. Images attached.

I have some doubt if it's an authentic WW窶。U flag. "Dai Nippon teikoku shugi" the Great Japanese Imperialism looks rather odd as a slogan on a flag. "Dai Nippon teikoku" without "shugi", meaning the Great Japanese Empire, is quite common, though.
 
Ok- Thank you so much for the quick reply. I have pictures w/ the relative (Tank Battalion) in 1944 or 1945 in the Phillipines w/ the flag & it was stored w/ his dress jacket- so it's definitely legit time wise... not sure on the actual writing of course. Anyway- thank you again, I sincerely appreciate the help.
