Wow - Something Great Happened To Me Today !!!!

Ah, such happiness. :-)
Well, my good news is that I'm an official staff writer for the university newspaper. It's called University News (UNews). I'm so happy because I'm doing something I like. Even though the pay is very low, I'm still happy.:-) :p

Congrats on your position. So, how long do you figure it'll be before you win your first Pulitzer?

:-)

Congratulations! I guess we both got the point of Pachipro's signature then. :haihai:

Do What You Love And You'll Never Work Another Day In Your Life!

Very nice avatar by the way Ma Cherie.

It's still hard to fight tears when I see Aerith though. :(

I don't think I'll win a Pulizter, but I hope to have some kind of influence.😌

Awww, heliobacter I think I understand how you feel. It's been at least seven years since I've played FF7, but the death of Aeris is one of the most sad moments in video game history.:(

Great News Ma chan !! Now you can also do the editorials, correct?? You can help in making the world a better place to live in, with understanding of and among all peoples of all ethnic-based groups and sexual dispositions !! More power to you !! I'll share some of that great big heart that I got from Misa J. with you !! MM

Congratulations Ma! I know you like to write as well as reading. Hey, UNews sounds like a great start for getting a job in the field. My sister-in-law used to write for her college and now got a book deal.

Aww, you two are making me blush. 😊 I know this is late but congratulations on your raise misa it's always nice to get more money.👍

I am having a day off :D ... but I am not getting paid for it...

Oh joy, DB, same here!

Got up as usual today at 5:30 A.M., took a shower and brushed my teeth, suddenly: phone is ringing: 'The ambulance You're assigned to is defective and in the garage today. Have a nice day off!' :p

But my wage's a flat rate 🙂

Got back the results from the blood work from my check-up three weeks ago. In short, I came through with flying colors, which means I'll be around to dazzle everyone here with my dazzling wit and wisdom for another year! Three cheers to me!!

🍾 :cracker: 📣 🎊 🕺 :win:

Sounds to good to me !! I'm happy for all of you guys there !! GREAT !! MM

I'll absolutely second that motion !!! Yes...the girl is back in town !!! (sung to the tune of the Eagles' number)

Well I finalized a great business deal today with an investor from Roppongi!

Hey, that's great news Ma Cherie! Congratulations! :)

Jeff: fantastic. There is nothing like the relief of a successful health check.

ludoNl: yay! cool! Make sure and write about your experiences, please... :p :D

CC1: that sounds potentially... naughty! ;-) ... whatever. Maybe that's just me. 😊 Anyway - nice one! 👍

Well, my "good thing" is not really today but has been ongoing over the past week, but several people have asked me to work with them on making some music, and one of them has sent me a couple of progs to enable me to do that... and I discovered that all I really need to get is a new soundcard for my computer, cos I have enough space to run these progs without getting an external harddrive 😄 and a mic and lead aren't too expensive, so... as soon as next payday arrives, it's all systems go for me 👍 ... I can't wait to get started on recording and mixing some music! 😄 😎 :music: :-)

Wow!! This thread is full of positivity!! Nice to read this kind of posts!!

Anyways, I'm studying International Business Administration, and today the former CEO of Sony Europe gave us a lecture on International Business Strategy!! It was a pretty interesting experience.. The subject of the presentation was the VAIO notebook PC by Sony, and the funny thing was he couldn't get the PowerPoint presentation to get working. 😊

Anyways, the main character in the story was a guy named Nobuyuki Idei, who was responsible for launching a thing called the Hit-Bit, sometime in the 80's I guess. But it flopped and he was demoted to the merchandising department. (Apparently that's not really honorable..) Well, that Nobuyuki guy is the CEO of Sony at the moment!! He failed once, but worked real hard to climb up the corporate ladder, and then succesfully launched the VAIO. (Although it is still an unprofitable project, it can be called a succes in other prespectives.)

I thought it was really inspiring and thought you guys might be interested in hearing it. 🙂

Mixing music sounds utterly fascinating. Good for you! Could you spend a few keystrokes explaining how it all works? I'd love to know more about it!

Haha - I don't know that myself yet! 😊
Last night I installed the progs my friend sent me, and then I decided to "just try" Fruity Loops (lol, sounds like candy!) ... and of course, I got absorbed and was there for the next hour. 😊

The upshot being that, with trial and error, I managed to make a few seconds' worth of sound that no human drummer would ever be able to produce  but am not much wiser about the prog! 😊 Still, no doubt a thorough read of the online instructions will shed some light! *ever optimistic*

All the channels, mixers and equalizers are a complete mystery to me, and I am still totally puzzled about why I can input certain things to the piano roll and not others, and how to select single notes from "keys" as opposed to chords... but it's all part of the learning curve and stops me from going senile! :p :D

What I'm really more interested in is recording my own stuff (although no doubt I'll be using FX too, to put in drum lines, bass and stuff, and mix layers) - and I can't do that until I have my soundcard, and that uses a different prog which I haven't opened yet. :)

Anyway, I'm really excited about this although it might take me while to learn it! 😊 I'm actually quite technically-minded, but I need the time to really read up properly, and time is something I just don't have at the moment.

Yo, Kinsao! From what you've writen, it does indeed sound not only fascinating to me, but fun as well. I hope you enjoy yourself!

:-)

Monday started crappy because my Eagles lost in New Orleans on Sunday, but I had Monday off, so I took the bus to Atlantic City to goof off in the casinos for a few hours. However, luck was with me as I won $240.00 on a one dollar slot machine after working it for around thirty minutes. WAHOO!!! I promptly collected my winnings, scooted out of there like a scalded cat and spent the rest of my time cruising the boardwalk before going back home. Ahhh! A great day indeed!

👍

It's nice when things like that happen

I'm happy because my Gunslinger Girl soundtrack album came today (currently on in the background). Cool matt black cover with the Gunslinger logo and title in gloss black.

Hey, nice one Jeff! 👍 :)

Wow, Mycernius - I had an album arrive today, too! 😄 All the way from Japan... 😊

Isn't it funny how in these days, with the internet, it seems more incredible to think of actual cash physically travelling its way around the globe, and an actual, real CD travelling back, than it does to think of messages travelling instantly by email?

Ahh! Winning money feels so good!!! I hadn't gotten that lucky in A.C. for a long time! 👍

I order CD's and videos from CDJapan occasionally, sending them International Money Orders for my stuff. From the time I drop off the envelope at the Post Office to the time my stuff arrives at the house, it's around a month or so, taking into account for travel time back and forth and processing of my order in Japan. So, in some ways, it's not so incredible after all.
:-)
