Wow - Something Great Happened To Me Today !!!!

Yesterday (Sunday) our dojo came in 2nd in the all Okinawa Kendo competition! We were only one judge away from winning the whole thing! Add to that, we are a small dojo, and this was quite a task! And...it was our "B" team which wasn't our strongest group! Our "A" team was short two kendoist and had to forfeit 2 matches each time, but they still made it to the middle rounds.
Also, I was the first American, on Okinawa, to serve as motodachi (coach) of a team during a tourny. I had the "C" team, and we didn't do all that well, but all of my kids are younger than 2nd grade.

Congradulations CC1 san !! Sounds rough, but you guys made it. . .great. I have gone and watched my friend's dojo in action here in Shiga, and it can be a tough thing, esp. in this warm weather...Good luck to you and your dojo on future matches. !! MM

As an update:
My Sensei has received numerous calls from other teams Sensei's stating that our team should have won. In their eyes, one of the judges called one of the matches wrong and indeed we should have won. But hey, its over, and there is always next year right?
The real news is that many of the people who have called were inquiring how he could teach a group of kids to be at such a high level in only 3-4 years! There are a number of people coming by the dojo tomorrow to watch our practice. They are dumbfounded how such a small dojo could do so well in the tourny! Not to mention that he taught me well enough to reach sho-dan in such a short time.

Not so much today, but yesterday was good to me. Firstly I had the final volume of the Battle Royale manga delievered. Which was cool.Secondly I bought myself a new bow last wednesday and last night was the first time I used it. I couldn't fit my sight on my old one to shoot 100 yards, but my new one is a bit more powerful (42lb instead of 36lb for any fellow archers) and I can easily reach and hit the target at 100 yards and my sight fits.

Today I received final grade report, and that means I succesfully finished high school (well, matura exams are still waiting for me...eheh).
Anyway, I'm soooo happy, because I had some problems and almost failed

Well, today, I foiled some dirtbag hacker's attempt to steal vital information from me. This morning, I got a message from eBay saying in so many words that five attempts had been made from another computer to access my account and that I was required to send them info via a supplied link, such as my SSN for verification or my account would be shut down. Almost instantly, my b.s. alarm started blaring since I had never gotten any sort of message like that from eBay before and I didn't touch the link.
While reading the message a second time, I found not one, not two but THREE mispelled words. Suddenly, that alarm was screaming in my brain! So I accessed eBay from a new browser window, got instructions on sending them any suspicious messages and within ten minutes, they responded, saying that message was indeed phony and that the proper authorities would be notified. Whew! I'd say that was quite a close call! Anyhoo, it felt damn good to outfox the bad guys lurking on the Internet!

I know a few of you were following my hamster saga on the bummer thread
Well, I think it has had a happy ending, though it was worrying for a while. After we lost Tyrion we got another syrian. Because of what happened we kept a careful eye on him and were gutted when he started of wet tail after a couple of days. But this time we caught it early. He spent a week back at the pet shop on antibiotics and we got him back last Sunday. We've had him back just over a week now and he seems fine - very playful and energetic, and very greedy too! I will post a pic soon - I wanted to make sure he was OK before scaring him with the flash on the camera

Yesterday I got my new car. I've had my old one for 5 years now and last week decided to replace it. Walked into the nearest ford dealer and there it was,a red Fiesta LX, only two and half years old (53 plate). Sorted out the finance over the week and finally picked it up yesterday. Sad to see my old one go though. Old 1993 Vauxhall Nova and ran very well, but age was starting to catch up with it

I have some good news too. Well, it's good for me anyway. Yesterday, I upgraded my Dish Network service and added more hi-def channels. Instead of a mere handful of HD channels, I now have around 20 or so, including ESPN2HD and Kung Fu HD, a channel devoted entirely to chop-socky flicks! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I'm in heaven!! This'll make me even more of a couch potato than I already am now!!
