Would it be possible to volunteer in a school?

I am currently obtaining my bachelors degree in sciences but im interested in a teaching career. I am fluent in english, chinese and spanish. Is there any way I would be able to volunteer for a day or two at at any type of school to see if it is the career for me? I currently live in Kyoto, but im free to travel to anywhere in Japan. Since it is just volunteer work, I believe I do not need a work visa. Does anybody know where I could go to look? I have no idea where to start looking other than this forum. Any help would be highly appreciated

I'm not knowledgeable about volunteer work at schools, but, if I were you, I'd first go inquire with your local city/ward hall. In a city like Kyoto, they are sure to have NPOs or other organizations involved in international exchange and other activities. You can consult them and ask for recommendations. They may have contacts with the local board of education as well.

i ended up going to a couple international exchange offices around japan but they didnt have anything. The office in hiroshima said that if i spoke Japanese, there would be many places willing to accept me

I would say contact the board of Education, or go to some schools directly near your place.

Middlemen in bureaucracy will do nothing but screw you up. Go directly to a neighborhood school and inquire. At least you'll get a straight yes or no. Go through city hall or some board with anything out of the ordinary and all you're going to get is sour expressions and a lot of tooth sucking sounds.
