I have hear of popular bands having concerts in all parts of the world, especially Europe and Asia (Duuuh, me.) but I haven't hear of any in America. Either they're really small, I've been looking at the wrong sites, or I a vampire. (Okay, that last one has nothing to do with it.)

We need some Visual Kei lovin' too.....

....in fact, it would to America good to try to bring some of their music here...

...God knows our mainstream is really crappy....

Well, Dir en grey are playing in America, and there have been some quite positive articles about them (and amazement at the quick selling out of venues, the size of the crowds and the devotedness of the fanbase), so Japanese bands (both VK and non-VK) are starting to get more recognition in the States.

Also, smaller indies bands are more likely to tour outside of Japan (for example Guitar Wolf, Blood, and I know some less well-known bands have played in America... but their names desert me at the moment ><). This is because smaller bands have not the costs associated with touring abroad. Obviously it's pretty expensive for them, but it's cheaper for the tour/gig organiser at the American end of things to bring a lesser-known Japanese band - like The Boredoms or Balzac - to the States rather than someone who is a big name in Japan and would command a higher price - like Mana or Gackt.

The visits of Dir en grey are quite instrumental in raising awareness of Japanese music in the US, though (geez, I'm starting to talk like I'm addressing a meeting! >< XDD).

Also there are an increasing number of American small and indies bands who are influenced by Jrock (VK and non-VK). :joyful:

No offense, but only Gackt's fan girls want him to come here. They don't even care about his music...

Not that I don't like him or anything, but I miss his Malice Mizer days, although his pop is pretty good.

Unfortunately for Klaha, his pop is....I dunno. I don't like it. The only song I like so far is "Hizashi"....and it's at the bottom of my 'likes' list. I believe he was way better as a 'Gothic-y opera' singer, but I still buy his stuff because in his Malice days he was my favorite lead singer.

Okay, back to the VK. Even if it were expensive, the pay off would be so great for the bands if they were to make it big...but I really can't do anything about it, so it's their choice.

Yeah, I prefer Malice Mizer's music way more than Gackt's solo stuff. Although his music is ok, when I'm in that particular mood. But Gackt does have a lot of fans, so I can understand why he would go to the US. Also, he must have made a hella lot of money, so he can afford to go gallivanting around the world! And very nice for the Gackt fangirls it is too. ^^

Klaha isn't one of my favourite singers solo, but I do actually quite like his work, personally, although I'm not so much into pop in general and his songs are a little bit gentle for my taste. I give him props for being a bit different from the run of the mill, though!

I liked his music better in Malice Mizer though, as with Gackt. I think I preferred Klaha's voice over Gackt's (in MM) although they were both good.

Yeah, it would if they made it big, but... it's a big undertaking, touring overseas, and not something that can be done easily, but takes a lot of organisation and arrangement, and it's costly, and involves a lot of people and contacts etc... so I am not really surprised that only a few bands do it... they need to be pretty damn sure they have a solid fanbase in that country in order to do it... either that or be invited there by someone running a festival or con who is willing to cover their expenses, and often they would invite a more obscure band because they'd be cheaper... ><

Take heart, though, I think the situation will improve!

Didn't Moi Dix Mois come to the US? HYDE, Diru, D'espa, and Blood came.

12012 are coming and so is Dacco (Yura-sama and Lida).

I'm sure there are more bands that have come but those are the ones I know about. I've only gotten back into JRock not too long ago hehe.

Of course there are tons more bands that I wish would come NOW! But we'll see. Hopefully with Diru on FVT, more Americans would recognize JRock and JRock concerts will have more of a market here.

The U.S gets more VK love than lets say...the U.K. (right Kinsao) Although Europe seems to get more love than the U.S in general. But Europe is a continent not a country. I would say the places that gets the most Jrock love outside of Japan is the U.S and Germany.

Dir en Grey is singing on September 1st and tickets for lawn ((seriously)) are 10 dollars. Seats are 60 dollars. ((Big diffrence... Ay?)) Anyhow, D'espairs Ray preformed at AnimeNEXT 2006 in New Jersey on June 16th. ((I was there! >3)) I wouldn't say many V rockers come here though. *pouts* *pouts some more* Then again, I'm very picky with my V Rockers... so... I dont know a lot of bands... I'm sure a lot do come... but... I guess I have to admit it is true.. more than others. Sorry I couldn't be much help.

America sucks. theyre music is terrible...i mean yes there are a few good bands there but seriously nothing like the rest of the world.

^ Haha yea I'm pretty sure that a lot of artists around the world are influenced by American artists. Even JRock bands are influenced by American bands. So yea.... I don't think so.
