who is your favourite comdian/comedienne(s)?

Do you have a favourite comic? Then why not share him/her with others on the forum (sounds like a sales pitch). Maybe you could get to hear of comics you never heard of. I have a couple of favs:
Jasper Carrot - Originaly from Birmingham. Aways found him very amusing
Bill Bailey - A comic who is also a musicain and uses it in his gigs. Listened to his Part Troll gig recently.

My favourite used to be Jonny Carson, y'all know him, and John Cleese, in A Fish Called Wanda; He was quite believable.

Great topic! My favorite comedians are the Kids in the Hall, if you haven't guessed all ready. I haven't heard of your comics - excellent! I love hearing about new ones. Also, I'm very interested in finding out about comedy around the world and the similarities and differences - though the language barrier makes it difficult.

The Kids in the Hall had a series of sketch comedy, I don't think it was shown much in the UK or other than Canada/US. I knew a Scottish guy who got it very briefly. Let me know if anybody else got it?

Dave Foley and Kevin McDonald from the KITH are in Sky High - a superb film. I noticed in the credits it was Copyright UK and I wonder if the story originate from there? Also Dave hosts Celebrity Poker Showdown, and I, like him hate poker, so he's the only reason I watch. He was in the excellent sitcom "Newsradio" too. Bruce McCulloch directs, he did Superstar. And they all show up here and there. Mark McKinney has a new show on HBO.

I love John Cleese, esp. in Fawlty Towers and Monty Python. I'm love British comedy as well as Canadian. And you may know, but alot of famous American comics are actually Canadian. "I'm not worthy!"

I like owen wilson, dave chapelle, robin williams, jack dee this british guy, this iranian british guy, i forgot his name, he plays brad pitt's helper guy in lebanon in that movie spy games, and also giorgio panariello and fiorello from italy, now they are sm funny guys, but in nice clever ways

Do you mean Omid Djalili? I saw him doing stand-up on a talk show and he was hilarious. I like alot of the comics mentioned above - esp. Chris Rock. I also like Wanda Sykes and Janine Garafalo and Lewis Black. I love political humor too - so the DAily Show with John Stewart is a staple. I'm sure there's many more...

Currently my favorite comedian is Patton Oswald. VERY funny guy. Jim Gaffigan is another favorite.

I like Raybon Kahn (sp?) and a lady named Jan but at this early in the morning I cant remember her name.... anyway they are both NZers so I dont expect any of you to know them, but gee are they funny! Jan always pretends she is this desperate single woman, with many stories to tell, and then sometimes she plays her Yugoslavian grandmother in her skits too. I have seen her live many times, and always have the BEST laugh. I love live comedy shows.
Also Billy Connelly is great for a laugh, especially when he did his world tour.

I think Red Skelton was the best in my lifetime. Never needed to use a swear word or ethnic slur to get a laugh.

I like Monty Python, Eddie Izzard, Bill Bailey, Alan Davies. My favourite sitcoms are Father Ted, Black Books, One Foot in the Grave and Small Potatoes was good - whatever happened to that? Omid Djalili was in that.

I often like a bit of surrealism in my comedy.

I love chris rock, even he can be really hard sometimes, but yeah i geuss i like hard.. also i like this dutch guy HANS TEEUWEN.. i think most dutch speaking people will agree with this

i love eddy of course, and for japanese i really like Okamura Takashi and Yabe Hiroyuki

Eddie Izzard is good for surrealism.
There are quite a few I like, but to name them would take ages. One of my favourite American comedians is Robin Williams, but I am also a fan of Steve Martin, especially his films.
