Where can I find (free) stroke order resources?

Well I was looking at the "Please help -- Is this right?" thread where someone brought up stroke order and I was wondering if anybody knows some really good sites where I can find information on that. I have found a lot of places with animations and things like that but I want just static things, that I could print out with numbered arrows to show not only the order but also the direction. It would really help for practicing writing. I was thinking that I should write the japanese I learn so I can learn it better but to do that I need to know the stroke order and it'd be nice to have that quick reference on a sheet somewhere so I don't have to memorize it all separately.

Hi,

I think you should maybe consider getting an electronic dictionary such as the newer Cannon Wordtank.
These display the stroke order on the screen very nicely.(Like an animation). They are light weight and portable.

Printed on paper 2000+ Kanji each with several boxes showing progressive stroke order and direction is gonna be a lot of paper.

I usually use a kanji dictionary, but one you've gotten down the basics there you'll find that there aren't much kanji left you really have to check. Though an electronic dictionary would be very good as well (I just think they'll be pretty expensive)

Thank you for the replies.

I have seen sites that show the kanji and the kana too. I didn't really want more kanji stroke sites but thank you as I am sure they will be useful. I really wanted to be able to have a chart of some sort next to me when writing(away from my computer) so I could practice writing and use the correct stroke order and direction with the kana.

I don't think I need it now though because I made a chart myself that I could refer to and just as learning the kana in the first place I found learning the stroke order of them just as simple especially because they follow the same basic rules.
