The most expensive purchases I made in Japan would have to be DVDs (around $50 each), one King Goji (Godzilla) figure at the Bandai Museum (six thousand yen) and an eight thousand yen book.

Hmm! Using today's currency exchange rates (I just checked), that's about $100.00. Not too bad. I did that while I was in Japan in 2003 when I spent more than that in souvenirs at Kanagawa Kenmin Hall in Yokohama where I went to see Pink Lady perform in 2003!

I think it's quite amusing and cynical that a number of people mentioned either sex or a husband/wife/gf/bf relationship - myself included!

Relationships might not always be expensive for your money, but they are always "expensive" for your emotions.

I would hasten to add that although my ex-bf might have cost me the most, in a non-financial way, I have also been repaid, so I am comfortably back in the black!

And, considering non-living purchases made with money, I think my acoustic guitar (Yamaha) would be the most expensive - but I didn't actually buy that myself, I inherited it, so I don't know that it would count. I have to say, though, that it was made in the early '60s and has improved greatly with age, so it's probably worth now considerably more than what was originally paid for it.

You are exactly right. I know all too well.

As for the most expensive thing I have from Japan, it would have to be a platinum necklace my husband got for me. He has this thing about material things. He thinks as long as he can supply me with expensive gifts, I'll be happy. Wrong.

Anyway, the most expensive things I have didn't come from Japan, anyway. They all came from France or from here.

As for my most expensive thing from Japan, def. my Camera, next to that my Denshi Jishou ^.^ bot about 27 000 and 32 000 yen.
