Well, I voted other and was going to complain about Chrono Trigger not being on the list--until I noticed it said RPG
series.
CT wasn't a series, unless you count that one, sucky sequal. Nothing worse than taking a kickass game and making a sequal that completely changes the gameplay mechanics. Come to think of it, Parasite Eve did that too. Aya forgetting the powers I spent a week leveling up to get I could almost buy, but forgetting how to walk properly?
Anyway, if it's just series, then I'm not really sure. There really isn't any RPG series that I've really liked all the way through. Zelda is good, but it kind of fluctuates in quality in a few places and never quite tops out. The Dot Hack series was really good--but the dungeon layout needed some more variety, and FF is all over the board from excellent to really terrible.
Once they get KH2 out, maybe that one will make best series in my book--if 2's as good as the first.
In the meantime, I'm going to take advantage of the fact that you didn't specify
video game RPG's and go with good ol' pen and paper D&D.
Granted, Fuzion is a better system, but it's newer and doesn't have the same kind of resources available that D&D does.
Anyway, I've just dated myself horrificly, so I'm going to take off and roll through
Escape From Zanzer's Dungeon again.
(If you remember that adventure, you don't have alzheimers, but you are fargin old
)
