Agreed, hopefully it isn't another chick flick,so to say,like X-2.But from what I've seen,it doesn't look to be.

Damn it! I'm at the final dungeon (it seems), and I didn't get Ashton. So I looked on Gamefaqs, and I missed him! So he was in Herlie, huh? Damn it!

I'd like to reply to Doc's post about all the FF's from VIII upwards are crap...here we go

Final Fantasy VIII: Amazing characters and graphics, the storyline was excellent and it sucked me on for ages.

Final Fantasy IX: if you love FF you will love this, the stroyline is great, the gameplay is amazing some of the bosse's are truly remarkable and sometimes difficult if you haven't looked after your char's

Final Fantasy X: what a brilliant leap for the series amazing life-like FMV's and a storyline that will make an right-minded RPG fans mouth water, and yuna is kinda cute.

Final Fantasy X-2:This was for the fans, because they wanted to see more from these great characters( A first in any FF other than FFVII ) its kind of a charlies angels affair here, and you gotta love a thousand words.


FFXI: I Havent got online

FFXII: It will bill excellent the judges sound awesome! No More Random Battles!!!!

I voted for other, as much as i love Zelda and FF and Pokemon [i'm playin the zelda : majoras mask on the gamecube atm]. But what about Chrono Trigger? I really liked it! I even downloaded the sypmthonic [spelt wrong XD] album last night, and the music can even stand up to the likes of FF. Great storyline too.

Final fantasy vii is the best i've ever played though. I can't really decide though, i love them all.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned non-Japanese RPGS. I loved Baldur's Gate I and II. Fairly good story line, some tough battles where you have to use your head to figure out how to win (or run and live to fight again), lots of character kits, I never did play them all (recently too busy).

the best rpg.. Final Fantasy all the way for me FFVIII is the first i've played, then FFVII . I loved them both to bits and can't seem to get bored even when replaying for many times. FFX is okay but sadly, i just dislike X-2 and stopped playing halfway. i'm really looking forward to FFXII

Who has played Shin Megami Tensei (AKA Persona)? I played the first one on the PS a while ago but got bored with it. Now I'm playing the third one on PS2 (It's called Nocturne most places, but Lucifer's Call in the UK). It's pretty good. Stylistically, it seems very 'Japanese'. You get to recruit monsters to form your party, which you can fuse to create stronger monsters. The battles can be a bit boring though.

I am a fan of both the Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy.. but since Ive been a Zelda fan since the first day I had a gameboy in my hand, then thats my coice^^
Cant wait for the new one to come out in Norway^^
I altso play alot of Guild Wars..great online RPG^^ any other GW players here?

new advancements in technology

I enjoy both final fantasy and suikoden. I find both series to be interesting and I tend to buy things that are rpg or have good graphics so I was really impressed when I found Final fantasy. I can't wait til XII comes out and FFVII remake. Here's hoping they are both as good as the FF's before. I also look forward to the new zelda game.

I voted "other," for Knights of the Old Republic. Simply put, that series has everything: adventure, intrigue, romance, philosophy, you name it. The first time I ever got goosebumps playing a game was in KotOR, it was that deep and captivating.

Here is a cool feature of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne AKA Lucifer's Call. You can recruit monsters to your party, which are then stored in a bestiary. When you view the monsters there you get a short 'bio' of the mythological creature that the monster is based on. There are monsters from Celtic, Japanese, Chinese, Biblical, American, Indonesian and even Urban mythologies, among others. I find that pretty cool!

Best RPG for me is Baldur's Gate followed by Fallout and Neverwinter Nights.

Console games look real good especially the Final Fantasy series but I opted to invest on PC's since I could use it for other things aside from gaming.

Well, I voted other and was going to complain about Chrono Trigger not being on the list--until I noticed it said RPG series.

CT wasn't a series, unless you count that one, sucky sequal. Nothing worse than taking a kickass game and making a sequal that completely changes the gameplay mechanics. Come to think of it, Parasite Eve did that too. Aya forgetting the powers I spent a week leveling up to get I could almost buy, but forgetting how to walk properly?

Anyway, if it's just series, then I'm not really sure. There really isn't any RPG series that I've really liked all the way through. Zelda is good, but it kind of fluctuates in quality in a few places and never quite tops out. The Dot Hack series was really good--but the dungeon layout needed some more variety, and FF is all over the board from excellent to really terrible.

Once they get KH2 out, maybe that one will make best series in my book--if 2's as good as the first.

In the meantime, I'm going to take advantage of the fact that you didn't specify video game RPG's and go with good ol' pen and paper D&D.

Granted, Fuzion is a better system, but it's newer and doesn't have the same kind of resources available that D&D does.

Anyway, I've just dated myself horrificly, so I'm going to take off and roll through Escape From Zanzer's Dungeon again.

(If you remember that adventure, you don't have alzheimers, but you are fargin old )

I have seen almost every Square game listed on here(Doc goes on my bad list)
but Chrono Cross was not listed,though not many people have heard of it,it refers to Chrono Trigger.I`m psyched about FF12,and KH2 finally came out in the US!YAY!!!!OH, and making me choose between Zelda and FF was just totally wrong....
