One more thing here: me liking Moon Child actually has absolutely NOTHING to do with Hyde in the slightest way possible. I just like it 'cause it's good, has awesome characters, and great plot.

Uh-huh...Considering how I've never even HEARD of any of these movies...

O_______O
you're joking?
ok visconti, bunuel, truffaut are quite old stuffs (but they are one of the most important directors in history of cinematography)

but you don't know almodovar or von trier? breaking the waves is quite new... same almodovar - you've never heard about talk to her, la mala education (these two are the newest)

so what are you watching? you said you tend to watch sth good, so...

Ummmm...Let's see here:

-level of entertainment
-good plot
-good characters
-explosions (no, joking...Although they make it even better!)

Blah, blah, blah...All those nice things and all.

give me some examples....

i thought you may like la mala education by almodovar - it's boyxboy ( but of course this film is not about sex) most my friends watched it only for that :p and besides that is nice piece of art (movie)

I just read the bit about acting being easy...
"you pretend to be someone else. That's all."
*thud*
as my lower jaw hits the floor.

I act - no, not in films, in theatre. I *know* it is a different thing - a very different thing - for lots of reasons, but I'm sure there are some skills which are common to both stage and film acting.

And, no, it is *not* easy.

The number of times I've been rehearsing for a performance and thought to myself afterwards, "thank [insert deity of your choice] I don't act in movies!!" I'm not keen, thank you very much, on thinking that I put in all that hard work doing something that is easy, and still manage not to be very good at it. ☝

But, I have not seen Moon Child :sorry: (I sooooo much want to! *cries*), so I can't say anything remotely relevant about Gackt and Hyde's acting skills or lack of them...

generally acting is not easy thing but i think that there are easier and more challenging roles, sometimes when you playing you have to put more effort into one role than into another
some roles are well more ambitious than others or to play them you need to show feeling/emotions that are not common for you personally or you are going to play someone who is more experienced than you that you might not understand some aspects of their personality (i hope it's sounds clear.. :p )
do you agree with me? you're playing so you may see that problem in different way...

Hence the pretending to be someone else thing...But anyone half-way good can do that. A lot can't, but a lot can. Including me for hell's sake! And I'm not a bleeding actress, now am I?

*agrees with Stalky that some roles are harder than others*
Definitely!

But an 'easy' role generally tends to be a smaller role, say for instance if you have only a very few lines. I mean, it can be really hard to play... but you don't have to sustain it for hours.

Roles that are badly written are much more difficult, because it leaves more work to the actor.

Well, yes....True, I suppose...But I still don't see much of a difference. If any at all.

And you know this how?

And it still stands that there's not much difference in so-called "good" actors...Tell me, who do you think is a good actor?

well, rabbits that hump basketballs --> jrockers who are nice and fluffy like rabbits --> jrockers that hump... whatever (fill in your own what you like there 😊 ).... --> back on topic again!

Well, sort of...

I'm JRef's resident neko guy, and I missed out on this cat fight!? (I'm just kidding guys, dun hurt me!) :p

For what it's worth, I liked Moon Child. Thought Hyde and Gackt both did good. Good movies and actors are based on the individuals who watch them. I love all three Crow movies, and all three Evil Dead movies. Neither series has had very good reviews (except the original Crow movie), but that's because they deviate from the norm. Cult classics. That's what Moon Child is. 👍

Basically, it's no harder than any other job is what I'm saying...

Or, possibly, you're one of those 'bad' actors.

Art...? Hardly! The actual writing of movies and plays are actually art, but acting? Tah!

you undersestimate actors, besides i think you don't have the foggiest idea of art generally if you can't understand how much actors mean for cinematography and theater... maybe you think like that because the only actors you know are those from crappy high-budget american movies like all those celebrities from colorful magazines

haven't been following this thread... but i agree entiely with stalky's last comment.

acting is an art.... that very few master perfectly, but when they do..... it's amazing.
i did drama for GCSE..... and.... tho people told me i was good.... i never really felt i was because i never really managed to grasp the 'art' behind it....

there are few actors who can truley but their mind in someone elses...
with me, i just put myself in that situation, not chaged my etire mindset, wich is wat's really necessary for the greatest performances.

Uh-huh. I don't know art whatsoever. Let's just completely forget about my high interest in actual art like painting, sculpting, drawing, et cetera and the art of literature, especially since I engage in both activities and also the fact that music is practically my life and all. I'm quite big on all those thing and, well, needlessly to say, I understand art perfectly. Real art that is and not just being told what to do and all that junk.

To me, actual art actually has something to do with being a wee, little bit creative here. There is nothing creative about being told what to do, how to do it, reading from a script, et cetera.

Well, as of yet, I have have yet to see any of these so called "masters" as they're all the same thing to me basically. But, seriously here, actually list some actors you like, like I've asked at least 2 times, in the very list. Let's see who you two think are good. Or I'm going to have to take your silence on the matter as what it implies.

i'm not the perfect judge to say whoe the greatest actore ever.... but i have to say i think Tom Hanks is extreemly talented... but then in know there are some how dislike him...

in the end it is a matter of personal interest, but... acting is an art....
you say you're inetersted in fine arts... well... there is also performing arts.... that is what it's called.
and there is a form of modern art that involves acing with i've completly forgotten the name of.

the best actors can be found in the theater to tell you the truth....
but some big screan actors started off there... like dame Judy Dench and sir Ian McKellin and such....
i think they're pretty damn tallented actors.....

Then why are you practically preaching about how acting is art? If you're not the perfect judge for saying who the best actor is, you're not really the perfect judge to say what real art is, now are you?

And you know how many things are categorized as something they're not? Take Koala Bears for example: they aren't bears whatsoever. And I heard the same with Pandas, but don't quote me on that one.

Tom Hanks is pretty good (for an actor), but meh...Reading off what someone else wrote just isn't art for me. Not even in the slightest. Although actors get bonus marks when they do...That thing that I can't, for the life of me, remember the word for when they come up with something to do themselves. Like free-lance acting or something...Well, yeah, basically when they make up what they're supposed to do themselves as either the director and co. want them too or for whatever reason.

And who? The last guy sounds familiar, but I still can't quite place it. And maybe. For being actors that is.

oh come on, they are great musicians, and very good-looking, they can be models
but not actor
maybe they can, but they're gonna need to practice .. a lot ..

Umm, Horizon, not that I'm meaning to ***** or anything, but... "I understand art perfectly" ???????
☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ <-- I kind of looked like that when I read...

Sorry, but if you can say that, please take your head out your ***.

No offence meant, of course.

what the hell are you talking???? being told what to do, how to do?? who told you that????? it's actor's own decision how to play a role
director can only tell actor what he/she expects but not how to do it

maybe you're too young to understand that - but when you'll go to work no one will tell you how you should do sth, important is result of your work and that how you'll do it it's only your business

same with actors - this job requires making decisions on your own and skills of indentifying with a situation/role, no one will tell you how to express your feelings

because i droped theater studies to continue with fine art....

lol, yes, i am awear that many things are named such that they shouldn't be... but acting is genuinly quolified as a ligitimate art... or do i need to go sue my drama teacher?

yes, interperative inporvisation.... that's where you see the real art.
art is a form of expression....
are you telling me now that dancing isn't an art?
some people can't use their hands to expressthemselves, so some use words, others use their body.
art isn't confinde to a sheet of paper...
that's why so many people can do such different things... i mean... i don't understand how a half empty glass of water on a shelf can be considered art.... but it is all the same...
i could be really tacky here and go get the huge dictionary downstairs and tel you the definition of art.... but it's downstairs and it's hearvy 😌
but yeah... i'm just wondering... have ou ever gone to the theater?
or seen the royal shakespear company in action?
they have a director, ye... because it's necessary to have someone looking in on the outside, telling them how it looks back... but they develop the charaters manorisms and such themselves... they have the guidlines with the script, but it;s their job to make it clear what they're doing, so the audience can understand it, without haveing to spacifically understand everyword that's spoken....

lol, those last to actors are two very highly respected actors that indeed started off in the royal shakespear company.
damn Judey Dench... umm... she played queen victoria in victoria? err... she's the new 'm' in the james bond films... she was the older iris in that iris film.. lol.. she's been in loads, it would be stupid for me to name all the roles she's ever played 😌
sir Ian McKellin..... Gandalf dear 😌
