Been out of the country for 3 months. Candy bar was 127 yen at 7-11 now about 171 yen with tax. Fruits and vegetables... I think many restaurants are going to have a difficult time.

I agree 100%. I think if people get to travel out of their country and see that bottled water and the plastic containers is astronomical.

It has been revealed that over 6,000 food items are already set to see price increases in 2025. Over the course of the year, the total is expected to reach as many as 20,000 items, signaling a rush of price hikes starting early in the year.
According to Teikoku Databank, 12,520 food items experienced price increases throughout 2024, a decrease of about 60% compared to the previous year.
However, from January to April 2025, price increases have already been decided for 6,121 items, including bread and alcoholic beverages, marking a 60% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The reasons for these price hikes include rising raw material costs, as well as increases in labor and logistics expenses. If the current pace continues, it is projected that between 15,000 and 20,000 food items could see price hikes in 2025, surpassing the total for 2024.

The eggs come in a case of 10.

I buy my eggs at Cosmos. They seem to be local also in Yamaguchi. Price wise I forgot but the tax is included in the price.
