Personally, I find it much more terrifying than the threat of terrorism. Abe has tons of criticism lobbed at him and he completely ignores it and pushes it through. What does he care? It's not like the LDP will lose the next election.
So much of what's great about Japan (the peace and lack of drama) is also what's worst (the passivity that lets the people in power get away with so much).
