How do modern Japanese feel about Koreans?

How mainland Chinese feel about Koreans nowadays

Attacks Spark Debate About Chinese Anti-Koreanism

A series of attacks on Koreans in the Chinese city of Shenyang over the past couple of months has sparked a dispute about anti-Korean sentiment among Chinese netizens.

One Chinese Internet user posted comments on the attacks under the title, ツ"Chinese start teaching Koreans a lessonツ" on China's largest web portal Sina.com .... 👍

The end of the posting is adorned with a propaganda slogan reading, ツ"Let's drive Koreans out of China.ツ" Supporting the claim, some Chinese users expressed anti-Korean sentiment in replies, proposing a boycott of Korean products or expelling Koreans 👍

I've lived in both Japan and Korea. All together for 20 years. What I can say is that extremist on both sides tend to dislike each other but the moderates on both sides don't have any problems with each other.

As for the governments I think the relationship went worse after Koizumi started visitng Yasukuni and the outburst by Abe.

What's never reported in Western media,Zainichi-Koreans refused to comply to Japan's Naturalization Policy of changing surname to a Japanese one, they cried ethnic discrimination.( I say screw them ) :p :(

Oh,they also demand Japanese TV to say their names according to Korean pronunciation not Japanized version otherwise it's disrespect to their Korean heritage ( I say screw them ) :p

Being Japanese requires a Yamato name, the "Guide to Application for Permission to Naturalize" commissioned by the Ministry of Justice states that, "As for the post-naturalization family name and given name, the applicant can freely determine them, but as far as possible please make them Japanese names (narubeku Nihon-teki-na shimei ni shite kudasai)."And this is more than just friendly advice, for naturalization clerks are said to reject any application that does not show a so-called "Japanese" (read " 大和 Yamato ") name.

The policy was fully implemented from 11 February 1940--not just another National Founding Day, but the 2,600th anniversary of the accession of the fabled emperor Jinmu, by which date all colonial subjects were to have Yamatoized their names and nominally become members of the Great Yamato 大和 Race.

North Korean schools in Japan are helping preserve the ethnic identity of Zainichi Koreans, and the portraits of brutal dictators hanging on their walls are given a positive spin.

Zainichi Koreans can obtain Japanese citizenship, but many choose to remain foreign citizens because of those who become Japanese are subject to resentment from the Korean community.Zainichi Koreans "bear a responsibility" to never take the citizenship of the country they live in as a means of preserving their identity.:p

As far as the pictures of the 'dear leader' , if they truly love the North Korean government and see that nation as their true home why are they still in Japan ? I really do not understand this. I don't believe it is illegal for them to leave Japan and return to North Korea, so why are they still there ? :?

The pro-South Korean group, mindan, is loudly claiming that they should get their voting right of local communities here, but it is an irony that they do not have the right to choose their president in the upcoming election.

Hello,
I am new member on this forum. I am a Korean Canadian and I was wondering what is the general attitude of modern Japanese towards Koreans. The reason I ask is that many Koreans that I have met still hold anomisity towards Japanese people due to the past (some of which I don't understand). However, I am not one of these people (in fact, one of my closest friends is Japanese). So, the question would be: would Japanese people have something against befriending Koreans or even intermarrying with them? I know that I have heard enough about how Koreans feel about the Japanese, I just wanted some input from the other side. Thanks.

Although I have never been to Korea, I must say that there are growing hatred against Koreans among Japanese. It is because:

1. People are increasingly aware that Korean mentality is opposite to us.
2. People are accessing more true information about history through internet.
3. People are realizing that there are many lies and fabrication about history between two countries.

Do the South Koreans have even a millionth of an iota of a grudge against the Chinese?

Guess what ... 2005 S Korean epic TV drama " The Immortal Yi Shun Shin 李舜臣 " depicted massive atrocities & rapings commited by China's Ming Army in the Korea peninsula.

KBS GLOBAL

Yes,it based on the real history record according to ' the annals of Chosun dynasty.'

Yes, many Japanese dispise the Koreans.

Hate to make generalization, but the prevailing attitude in Japan is:

* Koreans are dispicable.

* Chinese are dirty,but they're hard-working and smart.

Many Americans who play professional baseball in Japan learn quickly that the best way to insult a Japanese is not to talk about their mother or to cuss them out (the japanese would just respond w a deaf ear) , but to call them Koreans ( in Japan, that's a fighting word).

Not only Japanese, but many Americans despise Koreans for many years. Reason is obvious. Some of them often tell lies in straight face at least in Japan. In addition, SK government has long used "Japan" to encourage their own people. It is fine for us because Japan contributed to their development indirectly, but it's getting worse.

Chinese are not dirty in Japan but tell more lie than Koreans. "Lying" may be a common culture in both. :p

It's widely known that many Korean tourists false represented themselves as Japanese when they committed very rude and ugly acts in foreign countries, despicable :p

Some Korean people keep on doing that, when commit bad acts which could have left very negative image to local people-just saying you are Japanese-that cowardly thought actually shared by many Koreans for some time. :p

People are realizing that there are many lies and fabrication about history between two countries.

Yeah, I heard this today. Problem is .... that only Koreans don't know about themselves and reality. In a way, they are dreaming everyday and avoiding from something. As far as I know, most of Japanese, especially youngers, are very cold about Korean things and keeping distance from them.

They have been on a piss-off Chinese campaign in the last few years ...

People are accessing more true information about history through internet.

S Koreans are blinded by nationalistic K-12 education, also S Korea's ultra-nationalists movement published countless fake history books.

1 example: Dang Gosa 단기고사 檀奇古史 ( Author was named Dae Yabal 대야발 大野勃, in the year 727 ce. According to Korean publisher he's a man of Barhae ).This book turned out to be a fabrication. It was written by Lee Gwan Koo(李觀求) during 1945-1949.

The oldest existed Korean authentic history book is 'Samguk sagi ' which was written in 1145.

Typical Koreans are ignorant of this historic fact.

' Wa 倭 ' was existed in the southern part of Korea

Source: 《三國志》魏書 東夷傳 ( Record of 3 Kingdoms ) Book of Wei Dong-Yi/Eastern Barbarian Chronicles

If 'Wa' simply existed in Japanese islands, this description is not possible. *It says Samhan's southern territory borders Wa

Yeah right.... The world is gradually realizing that discussion with Koreans (North & South) may be impossible. Their mentality is seriously wounded because of the long ultra-nationalstic education and history paranoid.

In a way, it's sad to them because such biased-education is often equivalent of obscurantist-education.

As far as I know, most of Japanese, especially youngers, are very cold about Korean things and keeping distance from them.

Good,Japanese have always been much wiser than Chinese :-)

S Koreans thirst for attentions from Japanese people, because they've been shunned & looked down upon by Japanese ( in their own words ).

Much of S Korea's entertainment hijacked ingenuity of Japanese,WHY spend $ on copycat product.Look at how they **** on Chinese in recent years,S Koreans will soon claim Korean origin of Japanese modern culture.:p
