I have been trying very hard to find one, but most seem to be 掲示板 format, I don't like 掲示板 because any random person can post in it and there is no sense of community.

If anyone know any that's dedicated to politics, business/economy, science, let me know.

thanks

man, Japan have a weak internet community...it's really hard to find forums where I am exchange ideas and learn colloquial Japanese.

Actually if you join a site called Mixi (you need someone who is a member though to invite you), there are thousands of topic based communities that you can join, that act like forums.

Mixi no longer requires invites from a member. However, registration requires registration of your cellphone number, introduced as a means to curb spammers and trolls.

I think the problem with that now is that registration is not possible for people living overseas (since the cellphone models authorized are limited to those marketed in Japan).

A lot of Japanese are moving into Twitter and Facebook. I think the chances are higher there.

I read of a way (technically POSSIBLE ???) to trick the system on that. But it seems waaaaayyyy more trouble than it is worth to give them your business by fighting the prejudice against foreigners.

I stopped using Mixi awhile ago too, because Facebook is more convenient and set up much better. It is really too bad too, I think mixi could have had some potential to be a main player with those sites..

I just got banned from teacup for being a 荒らし
