Want to stop smoking?

I think they could use some of these ads in Japan. Sooo many people smoke and they do it everywhere! I hate going to a restaurant and being near a smoker!

In Wisconsin and Minnesota its now illegal to smoke in restaurants and in Minnesota it is illegal in public places as well.

I'll be smoking a cigarette while viewing those ads, Dutch Baka. Oh aye, those ads are very clever. However, you should know by now that smoking will continue unhindered until the tobacco crop is completely wiped off the planet.

I would disagree. If we were wiped out, smoking would probably stop. Furthermore, if tobacco is wiped out, we can just move on to smoking other stuff. Say, doing blunts all the time.

Whether or not smoking marijuana is an alternative to tobacco is unclear to me, but it certainly doesn't give the same effect. Marijuana makes me smell just as bad as tobacco does. It also impairs you more than tobacco. It's not an alternative in the long run, Derfel. Sure,, it's there, but what's to say marijuana was also wiped out? Would you say we would move onto smoking crack? Your rebuttal is not very solid.

I agree, it is a daily nuisance that unlike many things the average long term expat gets used to here, it makes me more and more pissed off at it the longer I stay. Eventually you might see me on the news arrested for putting one of those things out in some rude f*****'s eyeball.

I am just at a loss for the mentality behind it here. It is 100 percent pure meiwaku, and yet people put up with it like somebody just passed gas, no actually I think people act more adversely when somebody passes gas. It is fricking stupid and probably number 1 on my list of things I will not miss about Japan when I eventually return home.

But, at least you don't cigarets laying on the floor here in Japan. If you would walk around in Amsterdam people would just throw them on the floor, out of the car etc... (although some of the taxi drivers her throw them out of the car as well.... I once saw this guy he just threw his whole ashtray out of the car while he was waiting in front of a traffic light).

If never had a lot of trouble with smokers in Japan, and kinda enjoy inhaling other persons smoke so now and then (being an ex-smoker).
