Used Underwear...Get Your Used Underwear...

Man I wish I'd known about this 'Rope' place when I was there. I have to say, the panty trade is one of the biggest urban legends (well not a legend.. its true) that gets tossed around by gaijin here in Toronto. Since my return I can't count how many times I've been asked 'hey.. its it true they sell panties in vending machines there?' or 'hey, do guys buy girls used panties?' or something like that. I just have to shrug my shoulders and say 'not that I know of'...

..when in fact.. i could have had cellphone camera pictures!!

and worldwide, I'm sure

before I went to Japan, lots of friends use to make jokes about this to. like, to bring all my and theirs panties, and sell it there. wouldn't be suspicious at custom at airport at all more I bring, more space in my bags for things I bought there. anyways, really didn't know it was for real. would be interesting to see these shops, hmm... huh, kind of...

You're kidding don't ya? 'cause is one of the most disgusting things I have ever here. So you are truly fascinated?

This is a very Japanese thing in one way--the idea that an item has some connection with the person who uses it--and a very morbid thing in another way--to be able to imagine that there is anything of a sensual value about a piece of material that happens to cover a certain portion of the body that is related to the reproductive organs.

As I have said before...the asexual revolutionaries will tell you, ' hey, it's just underwear; get over it !!' (ain't that the truth !!!! )

It's not unique to Japan!!!
Anything, animate or inanimate, can be subject to fetishes. There's nothing morbid about it, it's considered as variations of human sexuality.

Aphrodisiology

It's not unique as far as the fetish goes, but I can't find any used underwear to buy with a picture of the original wearer, and I wouldn't even know where to look. It just not advertised. That's the odd part, that it's out in the open more or less. Most perverts, or people with other odd fetishes tend to keep them secret and behind closed doors. They don't want it known.

Can you tell me where you found that in Japan? As far as I know, that's illegal, there is this Antique Dealing Law that regulates the sales of used items. Used underwears can't be sold "out in the open". I've not seen that even once!!??

Sorry I don't look for perversion, secondly I can't read. I don't believe that my husband lies to me about his own country. Maybe you weren't looking for it, perhaps it's not your fetish. I did walk into a store selling sex toys and dolls...

Apparently,Japan's society commercialized those fetishes

Yes, in one way that is correct, about the fetish thing not being only a Japanese thing, and even about the concept of an attachment existing between a clothing item (and even some other things) and the wearer. My wording was not so good on that post; I admit. This concept, however, is one that is not nearly so much a part of general Westen culture, which is the angle that I had been looking at it from.

Again, I used a bad word. To be honest, I was thinking about which word would be best, and suddenly came to a time squeeze, and just typed that in. My intention was not morbid in the usual sense, thus a bad choice of words. Perhaps the overall tone of the post can bear out what I had wanted to get across--IMHO it is a useless and silly state of mind to see 'personified attachment' to clothing items. That's what I had intended to get across.

Regarding the variations of human sexuality, I do feel I have a fair working knowledge of and I don't think there is any, or much, problem there. I agree with you point on that.

I recall on document here on TV which had a report on the buying of personal female underwear along with a photo of the person, to be packaged and resold in adult video, goods shops.

Again, it's only a piece of cloth...is what I would like to teach the world... (and it's not only this thing...as you could guess, I'm not so particular about my dress...hee, hee, hee...)

Morbid in what sense? I took it to mean "pathological"??
I don't agree with the trends where many behaviors, sexual or not, are treated as medical issues.

It's the kind of thing you hear a lot about, as if they are practically on every street corner, but you actually don't see them "out in the open". But then again, where there is a law, there's transgression, it may be possible to find one or two SOMEWHERE if you REALLY try hard to look for it.

Yes, the idea I had had in mind was not something of a 'medical' nature, or 'psychotic' nature, but simply of a state of mind wherein an overinterpreted value is given something which clearly, by nature, has much less; all of which is due to a particular unthoughtout social norm.

With that, I too much more than not, tend to agree.

If there were, or is a law against that (selling used underwear) I would say that's a symptom of equal footing. Stealing your neighbors, or someone's underwear from their clothesline, or washing machine, would be an act with a more negative outcome, surely, and therefore a 'law' against such would be better. But if a person wants to buy and sell used underwear (with permission of the original owner who sold or agreed to its being sold) then why not?

I say, however, that if underwear were no big deal at all, then even far less interpreted value would be placed on it, and then it would be no more highly interpreted than selling used socks, shoes, jeans, shirts, jackets, hats, gloves, and T-shirts. Hey, it's only underwear, get over it !

Wow, used underwear. . . That is ewww! That is just wrong.

You have the weird definitions of "culture" and "social norm". It's just a niche market in Japan.

Here, diceke, I know for a fact that you have read me wrongly. The two quoted words above are not directed towards the matter of selling the used underwear, but towards the matter of attaching personificated enegry (or however one might define or describe it) to a clothing item.

This is not a Japan-specific thing.Teenagers all over the world are
active in this business.Cheap sloggies-quick pocket-money!!

Really ... what other societies have such fetish ?

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the used underwear is donated by old smelly men.

But I know that some of those panties are actually worn by men. Get a bag if you want to puke.
