University Nomination - MEXT Scholarship

I wanna know that too. My GRE score (old pattern) is 1440. The scaled score in the new pattern is 328. My current institution doesn't have a GPA system, and my Bachelor's % is pretty average. I'm not sure about my chances becuase of my B.Tech. %.

Actually, I sent the final draft of my essay (Field of Study and Study Program) to my professor that's why he contacted me. In my case, they asked me to send 2 sets of application, one for my university and the other is for MEXT. The have different requirements.
I've sent the first set and I'm already working on the second.
By the way, the student support office also informed me that they received my toefl official score certificate last Jan. 30. It was sent last Jan.8 from the toefl office. So I guess it takes 3weeks to get to the university. Funny thing is, I haven't received my own copy yet.

The Professor aksed me to send the Research plan and he agreed to guide on it but he never mentioned on any additional copy for MEXT. I had contacted him in Sep and since then there has been no contact. Also, I was given an understanding that TOEFL score is not required if u have passed from from a university where English is the primary language of teaching. How abt u? Also, Wats the kinda scores required in acads as well GRE/TOEFL to get into KEIO with MEXT scholarship?
Hey guys. I received a mail from Keio University yesterday. They said that I had been accepted for the IGP, and that they wanted to recommend me for the MEXT scholarship. They have asked for a final confirmation by Feb 13th on whether I definitely plan to attend Keio University. I will be replying in the positive in a day or two, coz I want to wait a little longer to see if I hear from any of the other Universities. Hope you guys get in too. Best of luck.

As suggested by mozda, I have contacted my professor. However, I haven't received any mail regarding the announcement of my admission result (neither acceptance nor rejection) as yet. Has everyone received the admission result?

We have had the opportunity to evaluate your application for the 2012 Master's Program of International Graduate Course for Continuing Professional Development in Graduate School of Engineering, Nagaoka University of Technology, and we are pleased to inform you that your admission has been granted. Also, your name has been listed as one of candidates for the Monbukagakusho (Japanese Government) Scholarship nominated by our university.
Monbukagakusho will make the final selection based upon the qualifications among the candidates. We will notify you the final result in June 2012.

You have got to be a little patient. From what I could gather, the University has a main list of candidates that it wants to recommend for the MEXT scholarship, and then a reserve list. First they contact the candidates on the main list to ask them whether they definitely plan to attend Keio University or not. Those who reply yes are recommended, and those who reply no are not. However, they would still be accepted into the course if they choose to attend Keio. For all the candidates in the main list who say no, a candidate from the reserve list is picked to be recommended for the scholarship. Those candidates will also have to confirm that they will attend Keio this fall. I'm guessing that the reserve list is sorted on priority. So I would tell you to wait a bit more. The last date for me to reply was 13th Feb (today).
I have confirmed my plans to go to Keio this fall with the AO. The Admissions Office has now mailed me a link to download the MEXT scholarship form, fill it up and send it to Keio University. Will keep you guys posted on the procedure.

hey koustubh, sorry to hear that. I think you better check out the other forums for scholarships. I believe there's also a scholarship offered by Panasonic?
When my professor and I discussed my other options if ever I didn't get MEXT, he said I could apply as a private-funded student in Japan then just apply for other scholarships when you're already studying there. I wish you the best of luck. Gambatte ne!
