Hi all. Please could someone help me with translation of the three kanji on my wakizashi Tsuba and also the kanji on the tang of the wakizashi. I think the tsuba maybe by Masatoshi possibly ito school although I am not sure which Masatoshi as I can't confirm all three signatures. On the tang I think it is body something either defeat or central at first I thought it was the smiths name but now I'm think it maybe a cutting test mark or perhaps sword name it is in gold but I feel cutting test on this size sword would be extremely unusual as it only just enters wakizashi status. Any help would be greatly appreciated photos are attached for your perusal. Thanks in advance. Gary.

Without a doubt the gold inlayed inscription on the wakizashi is 胴落 (dō-otoshi). Presumably a cutting test, but yes it is unusual (unlikely?) to see this on a wakizashi.
The tsuba says 正利 Masatoshi.

Thanks very much for your help and confirmation. A mystery on the supposed cutting test? One I will probably never solve! excepting that it is original to the sword ie not added in recent times of that I am fairly confident. I think possibly the Smith may have been attempting to give the blade greater kudos at the time! This is not unknown... ie with gimei signatures etc . Although they didn't go that far in this case! It is in fact a very nice zukuri blade currently out for traditional polish. So I won't be seeing again for quite some time. Thanks for your help Majestic.
